*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

I quite like the keyboard in 3.2.0 :)

same here, i'm using it on 3.2.1

if you use ADB

- pull LatinIME.apk from system/app
- install 3.2.1 patch
- delete LatinIME.apk from system/app
- push old LatinIME.apk to system/app

i also get rid of these apps after every update

Facebook
Twitter
Sim Tool Kit
Maps (reinstall from market, so updates work)

with the blackbar with sense icons + super circle battery, the rom is perfect for me at the moment :)

EDIT: i've uploaded OD 3.2.0 keyboard here if anyone wants it http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7084505/LatinIME.apk

Thanks for the multitouch IME, I just installed it via ASTRO and it updated the stock keyboard, no ADB required.

Is there a way to stop the phone ever syncing to google automatically? - just cos when in syncs my contact pics go horribly low quality.

I've un-ticked auto sync but it still syncs now and then

That might depend on the retailer? I've just looked at two other sites selling the HTC Desire and only one of them actually mentions a 4GB SD card. The others might include one but they don't mention it.

Hi, I think they do. I bought one from CPW (dont think this is a competitor if it is mod please remove name as I did not mean to break any rules) and it came with a 4gb micro sd card. The card was already in the micro sd ready for use, so that is probably why it is not listed on some sites.

I'm a wuss.......I want to root and try new roms, but I'm scared of bricking the phone.....

give me reassurance and courage people.... :D

The worst that could happen is your network provider tell you to f off after you've bricked it and you're left with a nice looking doorsop :D

:p

WhiteXperience from NextSense dev, based on Cyanogen ROM so expect excellent battery life and other nice things :p

Nandroid backups of my NextSense and OpenDesire setups all exist so ROM hopping is even easier now :D

Am I missing something with Chrome To Phone and pushing Google Maps to the Desire?

Browser pages work fine, but whilst Maps opens it just gives me my current location and not the location in Chrome.

In Firefox I just right click a Maps "Link" link that I've already set up in thr browser, send to phone and Google Nav loads it and begins navigating.

Chrome's Chrome 2 Phone Plugin doesn't support right click send to phone though...

Must be a bug with the Chrome extension then - just tried it in FF (search for the place, then click the extension icon) and it's sent it to the phone.

God I love Android :D

Android is BestDroid :)

Also,

I am now back on NextSense, have tried WhiteExtreme too and didn't like it much. I ended up going back because I could not get used to the autobacklight and higher saturation/contrast in non Sense FroYo ROMs. It seems nothing I tried from backlight calibration to colour calibration could solve this which is a shame.

DeFrost DID have it fixed a few versions ago but then it was back to being bad again so maybe I will give that a try when version 3 is out.

For now though, back to LauncherPro powered Sense.

Oh yeah, also BBC iPlayer mobile website doesn't work in non Sense ROms, says the phone isn't supported. Only Sense ROMs appear to be supported.

Nope ignore me - now Chrome seems to want to work! How bizarre. I've just restored LeeDroid over OpenDesire, and I can't remember if I tried it before or after I did the restore, so that might have been it.

I'm running WhiteX and I quite like it. Battery life seems good. I think comparable to NextSense, certainly not better.

One thing I did notice on NS was when I modded to remote the HTC lock screen I could no longer cancel or snooze my alarm....Hmmm..

WhiteX is also the first non sense 2.2 rom which seems to work with Exchange 2010. Result.
