*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Ok I am definitely rooted. I just can't decide what ROM to use. Seems to be good/bad points about the few big ones. Might give both DeFrost and OpenDesire a go.

MoDaCo's ROM is by far the best for battery life for me, Been using OD and DeFroST from 2.xx onwards.

OD is a pain unless you find a good stable release and stick with it, Resisting the urge to update to the newest release.

Incidentally, I just got another official update popup from HTC. It was 23MB and there was no real changelog - just said it was an update patch.

I'm now on DeFrost 4.3 :). Am about to start reinstalling some apps, can some more knowledgeable folks tell me: if I set Install Location for applications to 'External', can I specify the 512mb partition I created on my sd card? Or will it chose it as its the only ext3 partition?

restart should fix that.

If you set to external it will install them on your ext3 partition. remember if you do it this way you need to manually move all apps with widgets back to the phone for them to work after a restart.

I thought the idea of the ext3 partition was that you didn't have to worry about this - this is one of the benefits over the stock Froyo A2SD implementation. I've certainly never had to worry about it since using an ext3 partition

Anyone able to help me with taking screenshots? I downloaded a screenshot app, and it saves them to /sdcard/screenshots apparently, but when I connect via USB the folder doesn't appear, nor can I find it.

Then, when unmounting the sdcard, the /screenshot/ folder disappears? I think the problem might be it's copying to the ext3 partition rather than the fat32 partition. Any ideas how I change that (would be useful for camera shots!)?

I still have that problem myself, no idea why it does it I'm afraid :(

DeFrost doesn't have this problem but I did experience this problem in OpenDesire (pre v4) and all SenseUI custom ROms.

DeFrost has a media refresh fix which stops this happening!
