*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Top linkage mate. Just created my own and worked first time on Defrost. Only thing is it didn't change the boot animation, although I was already running a custom one which could be why. I'll give it another go when I update Defrost next.

go into defrost setup and see if your desired bootscreen is an option there...

mine didnt get installed either, but it had mysteriously arrived in defrost setup (and downloads suspiciously quickly!)

i downloaded/installed it from defrost setup and its working perfectly.

Anyone else having trouble with Twitter on the phone? I can't sign in using official client or Touiteur. Even tried a wipe before updating to OD 4.0.34.

EDIT: T-Mobile content lock?! WTF?

just got a Orange San Francisco tonight for the wife, Orange wanted £230 for a desire and a 24month contract, bought a PAYG SF for 99 managed to not have to buy the top up either :)

Its a nice little phone, camera is a little weak obviously and cpu is slower but god for £99 its brilliant, rooted and already flashed, whilst it might not be as well supported rom wise as the desire im sure the price will be attractive to many, personally it feels like a nicer unit being that little bit smaller

one thing that is bugging me is I cant see the Angry Birds lite beta on the SF, any ideas?

Did you recently sign up and enable the roaming thing for Orange ??

Bricked my phone this morning, I say bricked, I unrooted it and nandroided an Orange unrooted backup, worked fine, got a msg from Orange saying another update was available, applied it and the phone just sits on the HTC logo, getting it replaced tomorrow.

I had this, turned out to be an app that was causing the problem.

Have you installed any new ones or have any been up-dated before it started rebooting?

Dont think so but cant be sure. Even if it was I installed different apps this time as I was just looking to backup my contacts before rooting, which probably failed to work.

A second question if I may, about to root now. However I dont know if my screen is AMOLED or SLCD. I purchased mine in early june but there's no specification section on my documentation and im not quite happy judging from the other unclear methods. Anyone have a sure way of knowing?

WTF?!

Your post is full of wrong :p

Firstly, how could you have an unrooted back up as you need root to make a nandroid backup.

You would also need root to restore a backup, but you said you were unrooted

You should be able to fix this by simply putting your phone into bootloader and running a RUU from your computer, whilst you have your goldcard in. (I assume you need a Goldcard for Orange supplied devices).

This ought to help you out.

I'd go out on a limb and say you're more likely to have AMOLED than SLCD.

Why does it matter if you have SLCD or AMOLED for root purposes?

Just use UnrEVOked 3.21 and it will patch any HBOOT, no need to downgrade any HBOOT's any more.

Type that the wrong way round, phone was rooted, flashed the Nandroid backup and official orange update from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796975

Phone was working fine on the original Orange 2.2, got a message from Orange saying an update was available, applied update, phone get's stuck at HTC boot screen.

There are no Orange RUU's available to flash and I want the phone kept as stock for the time being.

Mines an orange phone, does the one click method still work?

Do you mind if I ask why? You're not going to have this future issue if you flash to the WWE official RUU.

I know you might respond with warranty, but you rooted which does void warranty anyway.

I think you should run the WWE RUU, which will repair your phone and will save you time without the handset and I'm sure an Orange RUU will become available at some point in the future, for you to go back to.

I think your phone got stuck in a loop because the system backup you flashed wasn't the correct base for the OTA patch, I get the impression that the thread OP at XDA you linked to doesn't really fully understand the implications of his unroot method and it doesn't appear that widely tested.

I see LeeDroid 2.2 is out. Can I just drop it on my memory card and install it over 2.1a and expect to have all my apps etc present? I'll back up all my messages etc obviously just in case.

Or do I need to do the whole titanium backup, format, install 2.2 and then restore all my files?

Has anyone else left their phone to auto-select provider?

I'm on Orange, and I can see "Orange T-mobile" in the list. Shall I just use that one by default, or stick with "Orange"?
