*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

I bought a car kit off eBay the other day, basically just an in car holder and cigarette lighter charger, however with the phone switched on and using sat nav the phone uses power faster than it can charge, so after a 2 hour drive I only had 25% battery left from a full charge, anyone else had this problem? The phone even flashed up a warning telling me to plug in an AC charger.

you got a crappy ebay job.... some of those chargers are duff.. i brought two, one was 99p with free postage and done the same thing.... binned it! try play or the rain forest place... you have to be careful with some of this cheap generic stuff... mate had a usb cable that was fruity and could not root unless he used his default one...

It's not that it's "cheap" even the HP iPaq official car 12v USB chargers we have at work are seen as USB chargers by modern phones.

It's just that they're not designed for high power output like today's phones require.

My cheap eBay one works perfectly though, seen as a AC charger.

Just looking at other chargers, is there anyway of knowing what ones will actually work?

Yes, i researched this a while back.
For maximum compatibility with whatever your doing with the phone, it needs to be 1A.
There's other caveats, but generally, if it can do 1A, then it wont be the charger that's stopping it charging. :)

Hi gents, anyone got a good link for restoring a rooted Desire back to "factory defaults"? I'm going to flog my Desire and put it towards my new rig fund but its currently running DeFrost so :(

Has anyone updated the software to 2.2, lost the markets app, then worked out how to recover it? (I understand it was an update bug)

One thing I've noticed when doing a full wipe and changing roms is that the Market knows what apps I had previously and starts re-downloading all of them, how do you stop this?
That's one of the options you can choose when initialising the phone. I can't remember the exact term, but it's something about allowing Google to back-up your data.

You can delete the current information from Menu > Settings > Privacy by unticking 'Automatic Restore' and then 'Back up my data' and selecting 'OK' when asked if you want to erase all copies on Google servers. Then it's just a case of not selecting that option when you wipe your phone.

I had the same issue myself over the weekend and it was driving me nuts until I worked out what had caused it.

Think it's too late to get a Desire? Looking for a new phone, and just seen on Dialaphone that I could get the Desire for £23.33 a month (after discounts etc) with 300 mins, Unlimited texts, 500mb Internet on a 18month contact..

In what sense did you mean?

In terms of production the phone is not discontinued, so no.

In terms of functionality, no also...as the Desire is still an extraordinarily capable phone. It's reported that the new sense will be available for the Desire in December anyway. It's also more compact than the SGS and the Desire HD. I'm really not that excited by the larger screen on the HD...it has the same number of pixels so for my money, it just makes it a bulkier phone for no reason.

Notice the slight change to the noti-tray in the current DeFrost ROM builds?

I like!
