The US are getting the Evo 4G and now this as well. Anyone know what the GSM equivalent will be?
 
Isn't it quad band so would work over here too?

just checking hotukdeals I can see sim free Desire is £352.99 - tempting!

another problem - i can't connect to download any new widgets / programs etc. everytime i press 'get more htc widgets' i just get a message saying 'unable to download widgets tap to try again'...any ideas? i'm only on wifi at the moment if that makes any difference??

Quick update on this... My phone beeped earlier today so I checked the notifications and it told me there were new widgets available. Clicked on the notification itself and it took me to the new widget bit. It had "Today in History" as normal but added "Notes" (post it style widget) and "tip calculator" which does the iPhone thing of splitting a resturant bill with tip according to amount of ppl etc....

Downloaded both and tried em.

No idea if the auto-update of new HTC widgets is something the new firmware does. As I says in the post above, mine came with the supposed new update already installed right out the box...

Orange handsets are locked aren't they and branded on the back?

I like voda handsets as they're usually always unlocked now and discreetly branded.
 
Even if its branded, once you install a custom ROM, all of it will go.

As for being locked, when I got my N95 from them ages ago, it was locked even on contract. Their policy may be different from 4 years ago though.
 
I've got an orange one and there is nothing on the case and nothing on the software as far as I can see. The only sign of anything is on the lock screen where it just says 'orange' above the slider in plain text. I imagine that is just displaying what network you are using at the moment.

Did you get it direct from Orange though? I think phones directly from Orange are generally branded in some way, as opposed to phones on Orange via CPW etc
 
just got mine today, rang up about 5 shops and all out of stock, lucky to get one in rotherham but they only had a few left. on Tmobile, 300mins, unlimited text and internet for £20 a month but £95 for phone.

No, I got it from mobiles.co.uk. Assumed that they wouldnt have different stock to orange themselves.

it's not true simfree, comes with a t-mobile payg sim :)

the is it locked or not issue seems to have been settled(well read 2-3 people say they got the t-mobile payg from mpd and its unlocked). some people on here said that they'd been told by mpd customer service that it'd be locked.


anyone going to answer my question about if changing memory cards effects the apps that access the memory card(i.e. would I have to reinstall them or can just move the folders over onto the new card and the apps will find them ok)?
 
how do you set the damn thing up, following the tutorial connect via mobile network and wifi trying to link my google mail account and its constantly saying no network found. keeps saying somthing about incorrect apn settings is that helps
