*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

it's not true simfree, comes with a t-mobile payg sim :)

the is it locked or not issue seems to have been settled(well read 2-3 people say they got the t-mobile payg from mpd and its unlocked). some people on here said that they'd been told by mpd customer service that it'd be locked.

anyone going to answer my question about if changing memory cards effects the apps that access the memory card(i.e. would I have to reinstall them or can just move the folders over onto the new card and the apps will find them ok)?

You can change the cards without issues just copy everything from the old card to the new one.

Right so the phone from Orange includes some customisations such as an awful home screen, Orange maps, an Orange app store etc. All can be turned off and the phone returned to 'vanilla' mode easily.

Questions! Can I modify the notifications that I receive based on what account they've come from? I'd like my phone to ring if someone needs to call me in an emergency in the middle of the night, but I don't need it to buzz when a work email arrives, e.g. buzz 9-5:30 for work emails, silent otherwise.

Secondly, how can I delete contacts? I've synced both home and work email accounts, so I have a bunch of work and Facebook randoms cluttering up the phonebook.

Edit: I seem to have three sets of contacts too. A small set in the phonebook, a larger set in people and an even larger set when selecting group members.

Firstly "alerts" - you will need to download an app like timeriffic to modify alerts based on time unless you set the emails "off peak" times to MANUAL so it wont check for emails outside the "peak" times. Means you can setup rules to switch off certain things at certain times including vibrate, ring etc.

Contacts - it depends if you have the phone set to view SIM, Phone or Both which is why you are getting so many.... Set it to not show SIM contacts and that should sort out some of them... You can do the same with facebook ones.

Cheers for that. On the second thing there seems to be 'people' and 'contacts'. For the former I can hide Facebook contacts but for the latter, which is what I see when hitting phone, my contact list is full of eleventy billion FB contacts with mobile phone numbers. I can't seem to delete them. Any ideas?

18mth/Free Desire
200 min
3000 text
500mb Data

got offered this today from orange as an upgrade for £22.50 any good?

That's more or less the same as the Phones4U deal above, less 100mins.
So if you've got magic Numbers to hang on to, want to keep your number, then yes, it's not too bad.

Have less friends? :p

Did you select "sync all contacts" when you signed into the FB app, I can't remember if Sense gives you the choice, but the stock app does. What you need to tick is "sync with existing contacts only" instead :)

:D Nah there's only a sync contacts button. There appears to be two Facebook sync options though, Facebook and Facebook for HTC Sense. If I click on the first one, nothing happens.

Not sure TBH.... I dont use FB but I do know there is a "link" option at the top right corner of each phonebook option... Basically it allows you to link 2 or more contacts together so that all contact details come up for the linked contacts when you open just 1 up.

According to the manual -

To view only contacts of a particular type, for example Google contacts or Facebook contacts, press MENU, tap View, and select the contact types.

No idea if thats a permanent thing or if it changes back to default when you exit the phonebook

Just checked - I have mine set for PHONE only and it never shows me SIM contacts when I hit the "people" button but if I hit "phone" to make a call it shows everything :(

Silly HTC :(

I would suspect that, as long as you copy the folder structure over to the new card, it should be fine.

TBH - never seen your question or I woulda answered it. This thread moves qute quickly...

Yup so all of these posts above mine are spotting the problem with the phonebook. The people contact list lets you hide FB contacts, but the actual phone doesn't.

P.S. without naming competitors what's the cheapest anyone's seen a 16GB Micro SD card outside of the bay?

just for anyone wondering, mobiles.co.uk got stock in last night and mine got dispatched today.

Jeeze...on the phone to Orange as we speak, and I'm having a hard time getting them to match the Phones4U deal :/

Will only offer it me at 24month contract, say they can't see that deal they're offering...

Well, that didn't work out toooo bad in the end. I'm not a massive "txt"er, so I got:

300min anytime
100txts
500mb internet
£24/month, 10month contract

BUT - that includes full insurance. I never go over my 100txt limit, so I'll save a £1/month and get full insurance, works out for me.
I did ask to have it without insurance, which is £18, but he insisted that under that deal insurance had to be taken out...not sure how true that is, but at that price I'll take it.

Just got confirmation that my Desire will be delivered next tuesday!! :)

I originally upgraded to the iphone but i hate the damn thing, so hopefully the Desire will be more suited to me!! :)

Is it normal for these to be sim free?

Ive had mine since Wednesday through Vodafone and just popped my o2 sim in and it worked

Voda phones are usually unlocked...i dont know about other networks ie Orange and Tmobile....pretty sure 02 phones are unlocked as well.
