Prob noob question but, Do i have to ring tmobile up to activate phone?
the info that came with it said just install sim and wait to be connected but its been 2 days now got phone from MPD.

I had to phone vodafone on my last contract to activate the sim.

My weather is sorted now, i am a noob at Android hehe. All working fine.

Ebuddy now working fine, my fault for mixing up passwords lol

My Desire is now working perfect.

So what is the best ROM for the Desire? Can you use the Nexus One Cyanogen ROM?

Unlikely. You'll need root access first too. Took Paul from Modaco a week or so of solid work to port the Desire ROM -> Nexus. Has the rooting procedure even been made public yet? I saw Paul claiming to have root access, but when I saw it he wanted to test it before making instructions public

Fair enough. It wont be long I expect then, looking at how many ROMs there are for the Hero / Magic these days i'm sure there will be plenty to choose from when I get bored of the stock one.

Is that an upgrade with them? If not I might call up now Do they have phones in stock, the stores in Cardiff had some for about 5 minutes, and now don't

I ordered mine as an upgrade this morning with Vodafone. The guy said this morning they got 600 Desires in stock, by 10am they were down to 328.

Dont think the Desire rooting is public yet...not from what i have been reading so will have to wait awhile before it becomes public then the ROMS should be available.

Also if these phones are so so desirable...see what i did there....how comes i havent seen anyone rocking one yet...ive been out and about the last few weeks quite a bit and i still see lots of people with Blackberries and iphones...more BB's than iphones i have noticed.

People i speak to have never even heard of it. They say what phones that, Android? I say no its the Desire.

You called Vodafone direct and got that deal? They must like you better than me then since I couldn't pull that off.

In the end, I got a 24 month deal with 600 minutes for £30.

Not too bad, but I specifically asked the guy if I could get it for £25 for 300 minutes since I don't use that much and he said I would have to pay £65 for the phone.

Anyone know what class the sandisk 4gb micro sd card supplied with the phone is.

Also what the highest class the phone can make use of - is class 4 plenty?

It comes with a class 2 card and I'm using a 8gb class 6 without problems.

That issue is dated from 2008, the car dock on the Nexus (And Desire?) DOES allow this - I've just done it

What is the car dock ? Can you voice activate the phone thru a Bluetooth headset ??
If you scroll the thread, it says 2.1 still does not support it.
I would love this function to work, as i make most of my calls at the wheel.

Car dock is on the Nexus and features large icons for nav, search, contacts and voice search for use while driving. Press the voice button, say "call home" out loud and hey presto (This is on a Nexus, can anyone confirm its on the Desire?)

Got mine from phones 4U today with the Orange deal. Loving it so far, for those with the orange one is it worth removing all the Orange bits i.e app store, photo etc?
