*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Ok cheers Brad,

Little update on the Runnymede rom.

Lots of eye candy and plenty of features. Sense 3.5 is very nice and in a way it runs perfect on the desire. The notification bar
options for Wi-Fi etc is very handy.

Little niggles though.

Even though the rom works fine, there is certain aspect of the interface that lags or takes forever to process your touch.
For instance, the Application manager, when moving Apps from phone to SD, takes forever to calculate the app size, and
a little longer then to move the app to the SD.

This isn’t a major problem but other UI interactions and loading apps isn’t quiet as fast as I would have liked.

Like mentioned in the Runnymede updates the wallpaper and themes are not visible, you
can apply them, but you have to preview them first to know which one your actually applying.

Battery life is actually not as bad as i would have though, especially with the visuals of sense 3.5. I took my phone off charge at 6 this morning when getting up, and now 6 hours later with a load of texting and a few calls its still at 95% which I was pleased with.

I think it’s time for me to try out other roms now, I will probably go back to runnymede if the developer tweaks the UI interactions, because the 1 or 2 second delay in switching between apps or screens is already starting to get to me.

He has done a fantastic job in sense 3.5, is there any other roms which have the quick options in the notification menu? as I’d like to try those out

Just out of interest what speed is your sd card? I ws using a 32gb class 4 and it was painfull went back to my class 10 16gb and its much much better, very occasional bit of lag but I can definately live with it

as far as the wallpaper preiviews etc if you click to view them by grid you can see them :) its a bug on all 3.5 roms for the desire afaik

Im using the original 4gb SD card at the moment, you think it may be worth my while buying a better one?

I've been trauling through XDA trying to choose another rom, but i think ill stick with runnymede a little longer.
I've been meaning to get a better SD card for some time, maybe this is the kick in the *** i need.

Sense 3.5 is definitely what im looking for. I had a look at ICS, and that looks unreal, but i dont want to be constantly
flashing on a daily basis so ill wait for that to get a little more stable.

I dont think it can hurt, and d2ext roms and the like are definately better with a faster class card, have you tried miui? until recently that was my main rom but am quite happy with runnymede atm

I've just ordered an 8gb Samsung class 10 card from Amazon, reviews where good and it was dirt cheap. Should be here tomorrow. I like runnymede too much to not give it another chance :P

I seen the Miui rom, seems to have quiet a fan base. Maybe the rom to change to, but we shall see how this new SD card works.

Quick question, the new card, its not as simple as just popping it into the phone, surely ill have to do something due to the current partition i have on the 4gb one?

you will have to start again with the rom, pop the new card in, parition it in recovery, i use 1.5gb ext4 with the remainder fat32, mount usb copy runny back across to sdcard and then reinstall as before, you could use titanium backup to backup current apps etc if you wanted to save a little time

Thats cool, i still have Ext4 recovery installed which will allow me to do all of that, the tutorial for runnymede installation was really easy to understand. :)

I'll do a fresh install so i can guage the speed difference between the two cards, just had a look at the SD im using its a sandisk class 2, so im hoping there is a speed improvement, either way the replacement was only £10 :P

Wow what a difference a new sd card makes, just installed runnymede 5.1.1 and its fast and actually usable now :) no lag and completely smooth.

Thanks to whoever suggested Runnymede...finally got it working and wow! It's like having a new phone. Brilliant.

Good stuff :) im actually trying the latest version of ICS from sandvold quite liking that too very little in the way of bugs now, just need full hwa and away we go :)

Uhh Ohh, getting changed at the gym, Desire in my pocket, stood on my trousers and crack, screen is mangled.

Quick phone to O2 now to see what premium i gotta pay for a new one :(
