*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

@Spawn

Glad you have been rewarded for your loyalty and the messing about you've been through. All gone right in the wash... eventually! Hope 5 o'clock comes round quickly for you!!

@Khaaan!

I hope the sale goes well, hope to see you in the Desire club soon! ;)

Aye!

If worst comes to worst, those webuyanymobile type sites will offer around £89 for my magic so I should be able to make up the upgrade cost in one form or other :p

That is what i've done with mine. As I dropped mine, scratched the plastic, replaced the digitizer and voided the warranty; I thought... hassle of eBay sale of not in great condition phone or recycle it and sell the accessories separately?!?!

FYI it seems that the Orange ones havea lot of their own crap software on which is hard to get off.

Guide on xda developers but you need a spare micro sd card and a some balls to do it. Plus there don't seem to be full versions of the retail ROMs (Orange etc) to flash back to if you need to return the phone.

The orange desire from phones4u unboxed. Someone from hotukdeals made it (:

"Yes, 4gb card is installed.

Regarding Orange software, it's not really that intrusive. I changed the home screen tot he HTC one and all the orange stuff has gone. Theres some orange shortcuts in the applications/programs menu (orange map, photo, simcard settings) I think they can be deleted, it's not really that different to the t-mobile.

Just tested both phones on startup (made a video) and the Orange started up faster than the T-mobile which will quash any claims that the Orange branding would slow the phone down. will post that video shortly."

Oh yeah i meant to ask, as it charges via usb can i just plug that cable into the USB Cigarette Lighter i already have in my car?

well, mine arrived this morning. but i'm getting the message "your sim card does not allow a connection to this network"

I think the problem may be that when i first turned it on I selected the wrong option. but now when I look through the setup options I can't find the setting I picked that was wrong. Any ideas on how i get to it?

Whats everyone doing about insurance? Ive never bothered before?

Found a deal for £40 for the year

including theft, unauthorised calls and accidental
damage for phones with a maximum replacement value up to £400.00 including VAT

https://vault2.secured-url.com/I2G_Insurance/i2g_quotepage.asp?insurance_type=monthly

No idea if they are any good though?

After getting it almost accidentally last year and then needing to claim on it, I'll be getting insurance as soon as it arrives.

I've been recommended talkcover @ £64.72 for the year. I also saw that quote, seems ok but haven't used them before. Their excess ranges from £100 to £50 depending when you claim though.

Phone is fantastic. I have historically been a Windows Mobile User, then moved to a Hero last year and now a Desire. The Desire addressed everything I wanted more out of the Hero - bigger screen and faster.

Phone is a joy to use, when will lemmings stop buying iPhone 3GS and consider one of these? :P

I dont bother with insurance now...after i got screwed by some insurance company that deemed that my phone wasnt brand new when bought...ermmm i had the receipt proving i bought the damn phone by myself. In the end i got my premiums back as the policy was void...so now i just put it on my home insurance which covers my phones ie the Desire and BB 9700.

Just tried a quite for them and it comes out at £71.91. How did you get £64.72? Discount code?
