*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

My brother had no end of trouble with his M7. Sharp edges and not sitting flush. I think he sent 2 back before he just gave up and settled. Again, I was lucky as mine was pretty much perfect.

You should still be able to return the phone shouldn't you? It has a slight manufacturing defect after all. I wouldn't be surprised if they just swapped it for you in the shop for a new one which doesn't suffer with this problem.

I might just pop in to town after work tomorrow and try a bit of gentle complaining, I suppose all they can say is sorry no.

The Dot View case it pretty nice but quite expensive at £35.

 £35.

To be honest the case supplied in the box is quite good. I'm sure over the next few months we'll see a lot of manufactures bringing out some nice cases.

The only thing I'm waiting to see it the Spigen glass screen protector, especially after dropping my first M7.

Placed an order for an M8 with an online retailer on Wednesday only for the "expected in" date to keep changing, went past Phone4U this morning and got lured in by the advertising, came out ten minutes later with a nice shiny Grey M8, all I need now is for 3 to hurry up and change my micro sim to a nano sim, I've got the sim but was told it could take up to 24hrs to chang :D

Three changing my micro to nano was almost instant. Took less than an hour.

When I got my m7, the guy in cpwh phoned up for me and it was done in less than a minute... :D. SIM went dead about 10 seconds after they said it's done. Longest bit was removing and reinserting New SIM which worked straight away...:p

To be fair to 3, it only took about 3 hours. Better than when I changed from standard sim to micro sim with Vodafone, that took about 2 days in the end.

Here are some shots i've taken over past couple of days. Not asbad a camera as everyone goes on about.

It is a top notch fast point and clicker.

I'm no David Bailey but I'd say those shots look ok to me, I'd be more than happy with those, after all it's a phone not a SLR.

Unlike many the camera has always been fairly low priority for me, it's certainly decent enough for quick pictures. Thanks Arthur for the pics.

I've had mine a few days now and I'm happy with my choice. The experience is certainly familiar if you had the m7, with a few nice improvements. I like how the screen fades to black now as you pull the notifications screen down from the top, nice touch!

I spotted a clear coat stand in the Arndale centre in Manchester yesterday, they offer full clear plastic wraps for most smartphones. I got them to put a small circle over the rear camera lens, I scratched the lens on my m7 and it pretty much ruined the camera.

I can't bear to use a cover with this phone, all the glass and metal is just too good to hide.

i bought m8 from three pay as you go £470 unlocked, but have three boot and shutting down logos, i know its early is there a stock uk rom i can flash ?

Thanks

It's time to upgrade, but I'm tied between this and the Note 3. I'm terrible at making decisions.

The two options;

HTC One M8 - £38 p/m - £49 Upfront - £100 Auto Cashback - £20 Cashback from quidco

Galaxy Note 3 - £34 p/m - Free Phone - £20 Cashback from quidco - Free Galaxy Tab 3 7".. Not that I'd need the tablet :D Would most likely sell that.

It all comes down to personal preference here to be honest, I'd say in real life usage you won't see much different in terms of power. Battery life is going to be better on the Note 3, Camera I would say the Note 3 would take better day shots, HTC better low light shots. There is more RAM on the Note 3 for better multitasking but then again I dont think that'd be an issue on the HTC anyways.

I'd say have a play with both first, you can't go wrong with either one.
