*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

My brother had no end of trouble with his M7. Sharp edges and not sitting flush. I think he sent 2 back before he just gave up and settled. Again, I was lucky as mine was pretty much perfect.

You should still be able to return the phone shouldn't you? It has a slight manufacturing defect after all. I wouldn't be surprised if they just swapped it for you in the shop for a new one which doesn't suffer with this problem.

Just a quick update, Phones4U did indeed exchange the phone, they agreed it shouldn't be like it was, it took about 50 minutes all in as they were having problems with the returns system. The new one is 10 times better, there is a slight dip in the bottom right corner but by the time a screen protector is fitted I don't think you'd notice it. I'll be looking to get a Spigen Glass screen protector when they are out later this month, you effeminately won't notice it dip with one of those fitted.

So tempted to buy, how are people finding the tall screen?

That was the first thing I noticed with a real model in my hand; The width is just fine, but the height whilst not uncomfortable per-se was something I immediately noticed....

hi , i was wondering about the fast charge

But for the full Quick Charge 2.0 experience you'll need to wait for a charger accessory HTC plans to release later this year, which will support 1.67A as well as the latest Quick Charge standard."

HTC's bundled charger, a 1.5A unit, only supports Quick Charge 1.0. So it'll still be pretty fast

so just wondering could i use the note 3 charger which is 2amp to get the faster charge ?

Thanks

I was over due an upgrade so decided to take the plunge on one of these today. Going from a One X on Orange to one of these on EE ... due to arrive tomorrow. Did the upgrade via CPW (on the phone due to their upgrade checker having a bug which meant it wouldn't work for me).

Hopefully activating the new sim on the account will go smoother than the last Orange->Orange upgrade when I got the One X which Orange's systems managed to ******** it up for several days.

Glad you got it sorted. Shops are normally very good with things like that.

loving this phone had it since last week, £470 unlocked , i have been a samsung owner s2, s3 , s4 and note 3 , finally decided to try a HTC, firstly the sense is flawless its so smooth hard to make it lag so snappy, while touchwiz would get odd glitches and lags and no doubt will be same on galaxy s5 , i watched a video someone unlocking the S5 and the homescreen there was a re draw of homescreen

also loving blinkfeed works great, the build quality on the htc m8 is best i seen from any phone, the back looks so premium the grey gun metal looks very nice , the front speakers are well ahead from any other smartphone.

3 negatives , camera most likely wont be as good as the S5 but then again i don't use it much so doesn't effect me much and it aint terrible

the black bar with HTC logo seems such a waste of space, maybe the next version wont have it make the screen bigger or phone smaller without it , i don't have any issues size of this phone, actually fits nicely in palm, coming from a note 3 it doesn't feel big at all

the one thing that bothers me when in browser there is always the black bar menu buttons, would be great if could go away , just like when playing a video or looking at a picture

Ahh you're making me want to upgrade to this phone as well now. I have an S3 and i'm torn between this, the S5 and waiting a tad longer.

Looks like HTC still haven't removed their benchmark optimizations.

Cheaters, guess they don't want customers knowing the real performance.

Honestly who cares about Phone benchmarks? You buy a Phone so long has it does the tasks in hand Great. Do people really buy based on that information?

I can tell you one thing M8 is anything but slow :D it kills everything you through at it. The performance for from me coming from HTC OneX what was already fast is mind blown.

Battery life is unreal for me the best I have seen in a phone, I getting charge cycles like you see in a laptop avg 4-5 hours screen time.

Really wanted to buy this phone when my contract runs out, but im not that impressed with my One X any more. GPS has died WiFi is dodgy and its getting so slow even after a factory wipe. My Desire to One X seemed less of a jump and the Desire kept going to the end this will be dead in another 6 months. Cant say im impressed.

This is nothing like the One X. They aren't on the same level whatsoever.

The One M7 was a fresh direction and start for them. The M8 improves on it.

It is the best Android phone on the market right now and will compete with the S5 in some areas.

Sense 6 is definitely, 100% the best custom OS... that is a fact.

Did you have the wifi issue since day one? because they was a known fault with the wifi on some batches and you should have got it replaced.

I don't get the problem with benchmarks. Isn't it just like Turbo mode on my i7? It has a "normal" speed, a lower "idle" speed for power saving, and a "higher turbo" speed for when it needs it.

The benchmarks are of very little importance, all of the Snapdragon 800/801 phones are stupidly fast. I don't really see a problem with what they've done here anyway.
