*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

Maybe that's the difference then. I still have an Galaxy S2 and am fairly happy with it. Contract has run out, so I'm looking at other options (thinking Nexus 5 at the moment), but it's just hassle changing from phone to phone.

I think people like me might not want to potentially mess up a phone they are going to keep for quite a long time after. I only rooted my S2 after the contract ended so I could get a new phone if something went wrong!
how is it a hassle?

it is soo damm easy to change and migrate phones!

can even make a backup copy of all your apps, messages and launcher config and directly export it to your new device hassle free

And this "CBA" thing with rooting.. I don't buy that. You're either scared of losing the warranty or worried you won't be able to figure it out but when a lot of the tiny issues you have with new phones could be fixed with that then drop the CBA and either get on with it or accept you're stuck due to warranty concerns.

I think people just get to the point where they don't wanna fiddle with their phones, outside of rooting my Nexus 5 for Xposed framework I haven't change much. If I didn't care for the few tweaks I made I wouldn't really root either.

I'm kind of the same now.

There's a few changes I MUST have, but outside of that, I seem not too bothered. As long as I can make the on-screen buttons smaller (I genuinely can't understand why the need to be as gigantic as they are at stock), lower the DPI, and install a good ad-blocker, then that's 99% of what I want sorted.

You miss my point, lovely guy as he is Nexus is CONSTANTLY debating the pros and cons of whatever new phone is out and never seems to buy anything! Course thats his choice I just feel a bit sorry for him, always the bridesmaid etc :)

Sad really, doesn't sound like you'll ever actually be happy with a phone if that's your attitude.

oh hush now, I'm always happy with a phone, just temporarily. Its got nothing to do with my attitude and everything to do with my job.

Sorry, but you're the one who brought it up. You're effectively having a go at the guy for keeping a phone for a decent length of time when you've openly admitted yourself that you can't keep one for more than 6 months without getting bored.

Sorry to interrupt the handbags, but does anyone know if they'll be bringing out an XL version of the M8?

I like the phone, but I fancy getting something Note sized.

I think you're missing my point, I like Nexus, we've had plenty of discussions around this but my point was that he's been rather feverishly debating his next phone for well over a year now, poised and ready to go but nitpicking tiny issues thats all, I'm trying to encourage him to get on with it that all!

I'm pretty sure this is note sized in every way except the screen, if you got a note size screen and wrapped it with boomsound speakers etc you'd be talking z ultra or 1520 size I think.

Also, the One Max has been a total flop so I'm not sure they'll go back in that direction!

Went and tried this in the shop today, very impressed at how slick it is.

Took the plunge with carphone warehouse £100 cashback. If you take into account selling my old phone it's the same per month as i pay now but with more data + 4g so I'm happy enough with that.

Should be a nice upgrade from my s3

What was the deal you got?

Just got home and read these replies about regarding me and owning a phone for 2 years :D Unfortunately Matt isn't "completely" wrong :p :o :(

It is just such a hard decision between the nexus 5 and moto x!

I would love to buy the htc one m8 but just simply can't justify spending £500+ on a smartphone.

Get the nexus 5. If you hate it, send it back to Google! Nothing lost at all apart from some time!

And you know I'm just yanking your chain! ;)

He's about to express doubts about the battery and camera on the Nexus 5 :)

Get the M8....

No nonsense with the OS. Sense 6 is slick and beautiful. Everything is rapid, never stutters.

Even the S5 stutters. Still smacks of crappy old gingerbread to me.

Samsung seems to try to do too much with the software without refinement, not enough with the hardware.

Z2 is another option but I am far from convinced with their software and updates. Didn't exactly light my fires with the Z1C.

With the recent and new snapdragons, not even touchwiz is making the note 3 or the s5 stutter whatsoever.

Beg to differ.... run a few apps, go back to the home screen and scroll. I can see it..... OCD sees it. It's there I tell you!

Even the Z1C was slicker than the Note 3 for starters. I think it's to do with the animations though.
