*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

So, starting to consider changing my mind from the Z2 to this.
I'm on a Nexus 4 at the moment, and find the camera on it pretty pants (very slow and pretty much always out of focus in lo light).

I know the camera is supposed to be just "ok", but those in the know - do you reckon it will be a worthwhile upgrade for me?

Yeah mine is like that. Think it is just pocket dust, shouldn't effect the sound. Speakers beneath dont cover the whole area.

Here's mine, constantly in and out of my pocket and no blocked holes. If it's dust,try and clear it out.
 
It's def dust. Mine has some holes blocked but a loud youtube video and the dust is literally blown out of the holes, the rest I just get with some pressurized air.
 
I've just looked at my gunmetal grey M8, the top holes all look perfectly clear. The bottom ones look like there maybe a gauze behind the grill, there are three holes in the middle of the top line that appear to be clear, I've not had anyone say I can't hear you or is sounds muffled so I'm guessing all is well.

This gauze: isn't that just the microphone for calls?
 
anyone used a 2amp charger on this ? charge faster ?

i know HTC will release a faster charger that will be 1.67amp which doesn't seem much with included charger 1.5amp or im i missing something ?

I do , because it's all I have. Not sure what the difference is tbh.

I use the Nexus 7 charger. O2 don't provide chargers.

It seems strange that there appears to be a difference between the silver and grey models, however I'm not sure if it's just more visible against the darker bezel of the grey model.

Has anyone got the silver model?

It can't be dust, I've seen identical grilles on two/three different phones. It must be something behind the grille.
 
Got to say am not really impressed with the battery life. Initially it was being compared to the G2 and some people were saying it was better. I strongly disagree the G2 is much better. I would say that I'm quite a heavy user and it would take a fair bit of effort to drain the battery on the G2 however I can easily kill the battery in the M8.

Having said that I must say I am impressed with the camera. I don't know why people are dissing it however I cannot get used to the weight and am in two minds of keeping the phone.
 
Loving mine so far, I actually really like the weight of it, it feels like a quality item. The the speaker is fantastic too, I just phoned the mrs & it was so much clearer than my HOX.

I still have sense on it so far, I hate to say I actually don't mind this sense too much so I might not put on Nova just yet.

As for rooting........nah I'm waaaay to chicken. I did my out of warranty Desire a few years ago & even that stressed me out lol.
 
I agree Sense 6 is the best iteration yet and I haven't switched yet. It's a superb phone and music playback via speakers and headphones are unrivalled.

However I just can't help but feel disappointed by the battery life.

Am keeping an eye on it today and running GSam Battery Monitor and a wakelock monitor to see what's going on.

I could get used to the weight in time I suppose. However if the battery life continues the way it's going then the phone will be going back.

How bad we talking? Mines been unplugged 1 day 2 hours 4 minutes and I've got 34% left.

It's a lot better than the M7 I replaced and the general consensus seems to be that the battery life is pretty impressive.

Having said that, the G2 does have a bigger battery.
