*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

Beg to differ.... run a few apps, go back to the home screen and scroll. I can see it..... OCD sees it. It's there I tell you!

Even the Z1C was slicker than the Note 3 for starters. I think it's to do with the animations though.

Weird then, I am quite literally struggling to make the note 3 stutter. The processor in the s5 is supposed to be quite a bit better and having had a play with that I couldn't get it to lag.

Get the M8....

No nonsense with the OS. Sense 6 is slick and beautiful. Everything is rapid, never stutters.

Even the S5 stutters. Still smacks of crappy old gingerbread to me.

Samsung seems to try to do too much with the software without refinement, not enough with the hardware.

Z2 is another option but I am far from convinced with their software and updates. Didn't exactly light my fires with the Z1C.

im in the exactly same mind set as you, i have had galaxy s2, s3 , s4 , note 3, no matter what hardware samsung have touchwiz always gets some lag such a big company and cant make a smooth overlay,

i moved to htc one m8 and wow what a difference sense just so fast, rapid and no stutter or lag , and i have tried to make it stutter and cannot do it

More than happy with my Moto-X.

Camera is more than good enough, OS is silky smooth, and just the right amount of useful features over vanilla android.

Had the Moto X and the N5, but sold the N5 as the Moto was superior in nearly every way.

Tried the M8 today, and its a gorgeous piece of engineering but just too big (For me).

Mega battery life improvements over M7 and last gen platform...

With the recent and new snapdragons, not even touchwiz is making the note 3 or the s5 stutter whatsoever.

Hi , i had a note 3 for 6 months and also with kitkat update, and i can say i did notice some stutter and lag not always but it did come, its just not as smooth or quick as sense ,

i loaded so much stuff on the htc one m8 just to test and try to make it stutter or lag and i cannot get it to, well impressed its just flawless

i seen a video of the s5 someone unlocking from lock screen and the homescreen there was a refresh of the icons, so that also made my mind up they still not fixed it, amazed such a big company and still get these lags and stutters

i been a samsung user since s2 , s3 , s4 , note 3 and finally thought not this time, touchwiz just cannot compete with sense . for speed, just navigating really

Oh and regarding rooting etc. simply cba (:p) with it these days, too much faff required when things do go wrong and is extremely frustrating when out and about where you need a phone!

I just like things to work out of the box these days, oh and in before the "get an iphone then" comments :p

And you know I'm just yanking your chain! ;)

He's about to express doubts about the battery and camera on the Nexus 5 :)

No problems with the nexus 5 camera and battery seems to be ok, just the screen that I am not "that" happy about and the speakers seem a bit crappy (quality wise) :p

As said, I would but can't justify spending £500 on a phone :(

I also agree, find Samsung phones to not be as "snappy", consistently smooth as htc devices etc. Can't stand touchwiz, just so bloated with useless gimmicky junk now and the colour scheme still looks horrible with no real unified feel/look to it across the apps etc.

And will never touch sony either, hate the software and still don't trust them with updates either....

Note 3 is snappy as hell - if you know how to get the best out of it (even without root)

with just touchwiz ? i have had a note 3 for 6 months, and i did get some lags and stutters navigating the touchwiz, and using htc m8 i can tell right away its more smoother and faster, using the same apps

actually using the same apps on htc m8 im using around 720mb, on the note 3 it would always default back to 1.25gb

any other battery stats comparing the s5 and htc m8 ? which site is that ?

Thanks

He's taken that from the review on Anandtech, they generally put out some very good reviews.

GSMArena is another that I'd recommend, they've lots of performance graphs and battery data which you can compare between phones.

My dads Note3 is stock without any changes and for the time I used it, it is as fast as my Nexus 5, I find the Nexus 5 a bit smoother in operation but generally I can't tell the difference, the Note 3 just had tiny bits of stuttering going on. Compared to the S4 it was night and day difference.

And the S801 is both extremely fast, and amazing on battery life, both the M8 and S5 have doubled in benchmarks which is just wow. Can't wait too see what the S805/S810 brings as that is what I am likely going to upgrade too.

Ordered my M8 on Monday, should be here between 2 & 6 today.

Retiring my almost 2 year old One X, hopefully it will be a good upgrade & last me another couple.

The more I see and read about this the more i want one...

S4 to this, good? Pointless?

Not at all.

I went S4 > Z1 Compact and finally settled on the M8. It's a cracking phone and a pleasure to use.

It's the animations and speed browsing the OS which sealed the deal. It reminds me of iOS before iOS 7 ruined the animations.

Same here, I currently have the iPhone 5s and always want what I haven't got :)

I did have the Original HTC One and loved that. I must admit I'm a little worried about the size of the M8 though. I haven't seen one in the flesh yet but I do love the fact it has the Micro SD slot.

I do also miss the Zoe functionality, I think they are superb. Decisions decisions. I'm tempted to order one from Vodafone and if I don't like it, send it back.

Anyone with the grey model... Are the holes in the speaker grilles all identical?

I sent for a replacement as the one I had appeared to be blocked on both the top and bottom grille.(they sent a silver by mistake, which didn't have this problem, now replaced for another grey)

Approximately half of the tiny holes look like they are not completely drilled through/blocked, but I can't tell if there's just something behind them causing them to appear like this.

Anyone else noticed this or am I going OCD?

EDIT: pic here, looks like i'm not alone https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BktPNy7CEAEm1cz.jpg
