I think I need to tone it down a bit!

Well im in a for a shock tomorrow, my first HTC phone, coming from Samsung devices its going to shock me i think, got a grey one coming, only thing is my sim is micro and i need nano, so need to look into that - also probably convert it to GPE if i like it, 14day cooling off period to go with first, unless GPE can be reverted so they wouldnt know.

To convert to GPE you need to unlock boot loader and s-off.

boot loader can be relocked (as far as I know). but s-off can not be reset (as far a I remember reading).

but you can go back back to stock from GPE. I did,it's easy.

Same here, had the S2 & S3 previously. Got to say, I do love this phone.

Only had it a few days so far. Really liking HTC Sense, it kind of makes the Samsung seem a little cartoonish? Hard to explain but this just looks and acts better.

Speakers are particularly good with them being front facing, however I have noticed that when on a call, the sound seems to be coming from one end of the speaker. Didn't pay too much attention as a rarely speak on my mobile but will try to work out whats happening. I found myself moving the phone about by my ear to get a decent volume.

Camera : This is the one thing that almost stopped me buying the phone. But then so far, I haven't really noticed it being bad. I only use my camera for messing about, I have real cameras for proper photos! The duo effects are quite cool at times, particularly ufocus and 3d effect.

Blinkfeed - I really like this. Not set it up properly but its good when you are looking to kill a few minutes without having to go searching around your favourite website etc.

Power button - Seems a little too far away being right at the top of the phone as it means you have to reposition your hand to turn the screen on. However.... that brings me onto my next favourite feature...

Gesture wakeup - a double click of the black screen turns the display on meaning you don't really need to use the power button. Also like the gesture that allows you to turn your phone to landscape and press the volume button to start the camera mode. Useful when want to take a quick photo, this even bypasses any security locks you have on the phone. (once you try to leave camera mode the security screen kicks in)

Battery - Superb. Never had a phone that comfortably lasts me until bed. I use my phone a lot. I have 4 email accoutns linked, use whatsapp instead of sms with all my friends, check facebook, general browsing and also use a couple of shareprice apps which require constant streaming for live prices. Granted I've had a quiet day today with my phone but from 7:30am this morning its now at 53%.

Also, my Casemate Tough arrived today, very happy with it. I probably could have done with the casemate barely there to be honest but knowing my luck I'd have knackered the top and bottom of this phone within a week.

Agree wwith all that, comming from an s3, which was great, but HTC's take on Android is better, I always felt Samsung interface while good, not quite as good since comming from an HTC Desire before the s3.
Especially HTC's browser.. It's the only one that does good text wrap, especially when resizing forum pages, and I being a forum where I'm glad to see that's still the case.

I ditched blink though, like samsungs flipboard.. Just not my thing.

Really loving the speed and response after the the s3.

I ditched the browser in favour of Chrome without even using it. I presumed it was a standard Android browser that I didn't get on with on my s3.

Stilgut case arrived today, I must say I'm pretty impressed with it, the leather seems to be good quality and the phone holder cradle/thingy is tight with accurate hole for the camera holes etc.

How well it wears will be a test of time I guess, but it feels like a good purchase for £35 in first impressions.

One nice touch is the soft leather on the cradle which should shield the back of the phone well.

Obviously this case completely destroys the nice minimalist feel of the naked phone.

Below photos taken with the M8, hence no good shots with the phone in the case, the last photo was taken with my old S3 in low light, showing the phone in the case.

all i would say with cases like that is watch the screen, my mate scratched his screen with what could have only been his cash cards

Yeh, I am quite concerned that the cards might scratch the screen, as they do stick up a bit at the tops of the cards.. currently wondering what to do about that actually. . . hmm my mate suggested putting the cards on backwards so the embossed bits wont matter, but then, the edges of the cards seem likely to be the real issues.

Yeah I don't know why they all make them like that. It would be no bother to have a soft centre bit that could be flicked either way and act as a protector

Does anyone use screen protectors? Not tried one for about 3 years and I hated the bubbly mess. That was a cheap one though. Do they actually add much protection or should I just not bother?

Well it arrived, ermm not sure about it at all, coming from Samsungs its quite a change, the power button is confusing me at present, used to it being on the side, lack of physical button is more than confusing, but thats easy to re-learn, just not sure about the device itself, its smoother than the samsung to me, but i just dont know. 14 days to make my mind up anyway so ill hang onto both and see which i use more.
