*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

Don't know if that helps you at all but hopefully it does :p

Yeah it does cheers :) think I'm gonna go for the barely there case, looking for one that doesn't add much bulk so sounds good. Don't think I've had a case on any of my phones yet that doesn't allow some sort of dust or dirt into it somewhere.

Also on a side note, started using the stock browser after reading this thread and have to say I like it a lot.

Weird, mine seems to report on the town I'm in, with or without GPS, do you get the same problem with the BBC weather app?

Yea BBC weather app and everything else reports my exact location fine, but the HTC one doesn't and just states south yorkshire, while not a massive problem it's kind of annoying.

Kind of odd, went out today and it correctly showed Doncaster, as soon as i got home it went back to listing south yorkshire even though every other app shows the correct town, might need to reset the phone or something if it carries on.

Good choice...I'm tempted to stick mines back on to be honest :p

Yeah I just stumbled across a random review and it mentioned how good it was...loving it so far :)

Anyone have issues for example when exiting a game where the boomsound icon stays in the notification bar? Apart from taking up space, would that drain the battery?

Just wondering, with the M8's tendency to overexpose photos, can you permanently set it to underexpose? Like if you open the camera app and set it to -0.3ev, exit the app, clear it from recents and then reopen it, would it still have the -0.3ev, or does it default back to 0?

I'm now a proud owner of an M8 in Gun Metal Gray. It's very nice but it doesn't seem like a huge leap from my old One S (although that might have felt like a huge leap at the time as I came from a Wildfire... Good God...)

It comes with so much crap though and then my Three simcard went and put even more crap on it! I Think a root and custom Rom might be in order in a few months.

Yeh I don't imagine it would, I think you need to skip a generation to really feel it.

Comming from a galaxy s3 it feels like a solid upgrade, im guessing not so much from an s4 or HTC one due to the very incremental advances.

Plus I get the feeling there's no where to really go now with smart phone tech, in the traditional format.

My One S is the same gen as an S3- I had the choice between a One S / galaxy s2 or a One X / Galaxy S3. its got a 1.5GHz dual core and 4.3" screen. Maybe I'm just hard to please :D

Yeah I get the same impression that we've got as far as we will for now, with manufacturers just adding gimmick after gimmick. Hopefully manufacturers will focus on gettimg battery life of phones to pre smart phone levels!

Does anyone know how to move apps, specially Spotify and its data (music) to the SD card? I have tried deleting the spotify cache, all of its data and totally uninstalling it but all downloads are still being put on the internal storage instead of the SD card. :(

I don't think you can move apps to sd anymore (stopped with jellybean) unless you root.

I'm sure I had this issue...i'll have a look to find out.

I think I uninstalled the APP completely, ensured the SD Card was working and then updated to the most recent Spotify before downloading anything for offline use.

It should just begin to store to SD Card automatically to where the most space is available.

Well I managed to get GPE on my HTC One M8...with no end of hassle, tried not to root etc and managed to manually install but will sort out the full process and do it again.

Basically my mobile banking app doesn't do rooted so had to go the unrooted route.

I ended up installing all the files manually and individually which took some time but appears to actually have worked.

Phone seems to be that bit snappier on GPE than compared to sense...will stick with this and see how I get on from here :)

No help now, but this guys videos I found brilliant for rooting... what does GPE do for you aside from getting latest update?

I would say that generally the phone seems even that wee bit snappier if that is even possible really! Still maintains the functionality of before and of course as you said provides you with the latest version of Android, will be interested to see how the battery life goes over the next couple of days and see if that's an improvement.

I do actually prefer the overall look of the icons and app tray etc but again that's down to personal preference, at the moment everything is installed and running well, let's hope it continues :)

Weird seeing it show as LTE mind!

Coverted...and happy :D
