*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

Is there a way of stopping the volume button from adjusting the ring volume, the amount of times I've got the phone set to vibrate and I knock the volume rocker disabling the vibrate and putting the phone into silent is very frustrating.

Does anyone use screen protectors? Not tried one for about 3 years and I hated the bubbly mess. That was a cheap one though. Do they actually add much protection or should I just not bother?

When I had my first M7 I decided as it had Gorilla Glass I wouldn't bother with a screen protector, great I didn't get any noticeable scratches however when I dropped it I got a nice crack right across the bottom of the screen. I then got new M7 and did a bit of looking around and got a Spigen Glass screen protector, they are fantastic, once properly fitted you would hardly know it was there.

Thank god they got one out very soon after the M8 was launched.

I've noticed this too, anyone know howtto fix it with out rooting or other extensive mods?

Any opinions on the Dot View Case? Looks cool in videos but not seen one up close.
I've got one and found it a nice novelty. But the fact I had to use two hands to use the phone with it on and the lack of protection it offers to the side, top and bottom meant it wasn't suitable for me. Shame really, As the gesture control worked really well for me and it doesn't add too much bulk.

I've had one fitted since release and I like it, the all round protection is good and the view is useful for vetting calls etc
My only negative is you're not able to view the lovely phone design.

Ok I may be completely missing something here, but being new to htc I'm not sure. The HTC weather app seems to be having major trouble getting my location, this morning it said I was in Greece and now it's just reporting south yorkshire, instead of my town of Doncaster, GPS and all that is on, Google maps and Google in general pin points my location no problem, yet the weather app doesn't.
Cleared data and cache for the weather apps with no change, is this something that happens? Or how can I fix it?

Weird, mine seems to report on the town I'm in, with or without GPS, do you get the same problem with the BBC weather app?

Yea BBC weather app and everything else reports my exact location fine, but the HTC one doesn't and just states south yorkshire, while not a massive problem it's kind of annoying.

Has anybody put CM11 on their phone yet?

I'm having trouble with my SD card for some reason. A lot of apps can't access the SD Card.
For example, I want to set my TB Folder on my external card but everytime I can't do it unfortunately. It says that the folder can't be written to.
Same with my NZB downloader, I download files (which are stored on the central memory cache first) when completed they get moved to the SD card but each time a download is completed it fails because it can't write to the SD card.

Any ideas?

So...I've decided to actually use the stock browser on the HTC One M8 and my god is it a much better experience than Chrome is. Chrome seems to stutter etc when scrolling at times and doesn't load the pages as quick as the stock browser.

Its actually only now that I've noticed as I had Chrome enabled right away from the get go.

What cases can people recommend for showing the phone off? Ideally I'm after a clear case so was thinking either the Case Mate Barely There, or the Poetic Atmosphere.

I've always liked the HTC browser from the Desire days, fast and most of my mobile browsing is forums, and the text wrap/resize when zooming is the best I've found out of all the main browsers, so it's a really big deal for me.

Luckily for you...I have both :p

I had used the Barely There from the off essentially, however there are a few things I didn't like, dirt/dust etc did get in through the small gaps and it doesn't truly fully protect the phone...however, it does add little to know bulk and does a great job of showing off the aesthetic of the phone.

The Poetic atmospher I ordered from eBay...ships from the same person on Amazon and works out cheaper as it is the US price you pay. The case certainly offers more protection than the Barely There and looks great as it did previously with the M7 HOWEVER it adds a lot more bulk than I thought it might. I don't remember the Poetic adding as much bulk on the M7 but this I feel puts it just on the verge of being too big. I'm persisting just now as I like the look with the 'foggy' back and the protection however I may find myself back with the Barely There as it is that little less bulky in the pocket.

Funnily enough I'd say both of the cases offer around the same amount of grip despite the difference in the materials.

Don't know if that helps you at all but hopefully it does :p

Yeah I've noticed the text wrapping improvements immediately since switching, especially here on OcUK it's lot easier to read.

Enjoying the browser experiecne so far and looks like I may stick with it.
