*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

Going back to Sense because you don't like hangouts and Google calendar, both of which you can change?

Well that, and the general feel of the OS, HTC have done a cracking job with Sense, although I am getting more used to GPE lollipop. The camera app is FUBAR though, it takes days to focus whereas the Sense one you could open the app, focus and snap in one or two seconds.
Also HTCs stock sense browser is the best android browser I've used.

Think I'll wait and see how the next one or two GPE OTA updates fare, but I'm kind of on the fence really.

Guys this phone is available on PAYG with Vodaphone for £280. Is this still the current must have phone and more importantly (to me anyway) is can it be unlocked and debloated from all the Vodaphone apps and such? Vodaphone is diabolical in my area so i'd only get this deal if i can continue using my Three sim.

I getting occasional random lags with this phone (standard KitKat and Sense) it'll randomly become unresponsive for a few seconds. No pattern to which app I'll be using, and this stuff never happened on the Nexus 5.

Any ideas what it could be? :(

Anyway to fix the Weather app saying "Current Location" as opposed to the location name?

Have seen this fixed with a good old dose of on / off.

Ensure fastboot isn't enabled in power options so the mobile actually powers off completely, power down and walk away enjoying a beverage of your choice, give the mobile 5-10 mins then power back up.

hope it helps

The HTC Weather app is bizarre. My local town isn't found when searching it for it manually but is shows up just fine when the Current Location feature is working.

Thank you :)

Can anyone recommend a good step-by-step guide for rooting and installing custom roms? I've come from a Galaxy S2 that I had for 3 years and flashing ROMs really couldn't have been easier.

I've started reading on XDA but it seems like there's more to do/learn with the M8 what with S-On/Off etc.

Thanks

Very easy to follow. You don't nessesary need s-off, but of you do there are two methods, the free one us the Firewater method, if that fails you'll need to purchase 'sunshine' which is 25 bucks.

Thanks a lot. Am I right in thinking that I actually dont need Root or S-Off to install custom roms?

Also, has anyone used a Tempered Glass screen protector before and if so would you recommend the one you have?

I currently have the s4 and feel the need to change, seeing that the m8 is available brand new for £290 is tempting me. So I get m8 or wait till March for m9/hima?

OR

Sell the s4, get the m8, and then depending on what is announced in March at MWC 2015 sell the m8 for the m9/s6/z4? :p

I've seen the M8 online for a bargain price of £270ish.
I'd get that and keep it for a year or so if you really want to change

My browser just updated and now I no longer have the HTC Labs 'swipe in from the side' radial menu navigation. This has really annoyed me as I have always navigated the browser like this. I hope it is coming back. Now the HTC browser seems like every other browser.
