*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

Just picked one of these up after 2 years on WP8, and frankly I'm loving it. Anything I should know as someone returning to android? Any phone quirks?

Having seen an M7 running I'm quite drawn to the M8 as a replacement for my Nexus 5 as my main issue is the storage restriction!

I've seen a deal for 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB of 4G data for £30.99 per month and it's with EE so the speed in my area should be pretty decent!

Does this sound like a good deal or does anyone know of anything better out there??

3 do a similar deal, a quid more for 600 mins.

2gb can be chewed through quite quickly though if your not careful to use wifi when you can.

I'm with Three at the moment on their "One Plan" (which I understand has been discontinued!) but the 4G speed where I am is rubbish (circa 3 meg compared to around 40 meg that a couple of mates get on EE!

Apparently I have generally used around 500-600mb per month in the past so even with 4G I'd hope that 2GB is enough!

Whats the going rate for these phones at the moment brand new? I sent my old HTC one M7 in for repair to HTC and the courier lost my phone so HTC have sent me a brand new sealed One M8 as it's replacement :D Although I don't need it as I bought a Oneplus One while I was waiting for HTC. :)

Never had a case, never dropped the phone. It's definitely harder to keep a hold of than my Nexus 5 but not that difficult that I drop it.

I use it without a case and have dropped it a couple of times (admittedly, while intoxicated. I'm not a baffoon!). It's also fallen out of my pocket when sat down a few times which previous phones haven't. Overall it's got a few barely noticeable dints in the corners and some specs/minor chips on the back. I've stopped caring so much about having a pristine phone.

It's definitely a slippy phone, more so than the One S and imo that was bad!

can I ask what colour you both have? I have the grey which apparently is much more slippy than the silver. Not sure where the gold fits in.

I just use the gel case it came with. nearly dropped it when I took it out of the box and thought "yep, this case is going on"

I find the gel case that came with it has an effect on my network signal to be honest - I just about get a signal in my house with it off but if I put it on I get nothing! :( (changed to a a Ringke SLIM case and the notches on the corners seem to help!)

On another note, my Twitter app (the official one) seems to ever so slightly "judder" when I'm scrolling up in the feed!?!? Anyone else had this as I didn't have this issue with my N5?!?!?

I've had mine ~2 months and the gel case has now had it. The edges are fraying and the lock screen button and charging/headphone area of the case have snapped in half... time to look for another case!

Anyone recommend a case that's protective yet thin?

I've been using a Poetic Atmosphere case since I bought it and it's be on point the entire time.
I don't feel it adds too much bulk either

I bought mine second hand off a friend and it came with 3 cases, binned the lot.

Don't buy a nice phone and then put it in a case, pointless in my opinion.

Would have agreed with you previously but I find the M8 slips too easily without a case and mine is in perfect condition so far with my case. (Touch wood)

Only got it today but the Ringke SLIM looks to be the business - very slimline and protects the phone without adding too much bulk!

This looks like an excellent case, shame it's in only those two colours

What colour did you go for? White or black?

Had a look at reviews on the Poetic case and not great, seems that the front of the phone is flush with the case offering no protection to the screen. :(

Thanks for that, just checked a review on YouTube.

Looks just like what I was after. I've been using the included gel case ever since I got the device.
