*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

Rotate the screen to enable the menu! Can't believe it was so simple!!

You sir, are an absolute star!! :)

Mame, have another star, or a pint, or whatever your fave tipple is! Thank you!!

Barclays banking app no longer works. Balls. Just me, or anyone else notice.

Not working for me either (Mybarclaycard app.) Splash screen opens and closes after half a second or so. Uninstalled and reinstalled, made no difference. A couple of reviewers on the Play Store have said the same.

For me so far:
The good: phone feels faster and smoother, though not sure if it actually is.

The ok: Battery life seems a little less, probably around 4h30 screen on time instead of the ~5 before.

The bad:
The Barclays app doesn't work.
Cerberus always takes a photo after one failed attempt to unlock the phone even if the app is set to more (to be fair, the app does say it's a necessary workaround. Still annoying though.)
Can't turn off the "power saver mode" notification on the lock screen without turning off lock screen notifications completely. Seriously, do I need to know that's turned on every time I pick up the phone??
The worst thing of all though....toggling mobile data from third party apps isn't supported. So that's half my Tasker profiles broken then. Gee, thanks Google!

None of them major issues, just annoying :(

Apparently there are 2 types of USB cables available - ones that allow for charging and data transfer, and one that only allows charging. The ones that are charge only are supposed to be better/charge faster; I've got one, but I've never done any kinds of test with it, so it might just be a placebo.

Any decent micro usb cable will be fine.

The charge only ones are handy for charging from un trusted usb ports though (public ones) as they dont transfer data.

There is no difference in my experience.

Annoying issues so far:-

-No notification icons in the status bar on lock screen, but they appear when I unlock. As I have lock screen detailed notifications turned off, that means I can't see if an app like WhatsApp has a notification until I unlock as I don't have the icon on lock screen. Easier to show:

what do?
e: I suppose I could do this but I feel like all it will achieve is making the mrs suspicious :o

-Pressing the home button doesn't open notification bar properly, it starts to drag it down then reverses half way through like it's a "hold and release" type thing, even though it isn't :confused::confused:

-Apex drawer transparency doesn't seem to work any more

hmmm... updated to Lollipop yesterday.

Serious drain yesterday, had to charge when I got home from work at 7pm. I put this down to the update during the day and app updates etc.

However, hardly used my phone today - checked whatsapp once, checked new emails a couple of time and thats it due to a busy schedule. Phone is currently on 9%!

Usually on a day like today, I could expect the battery to last through the night and into mid-morning. Loved my phone before this update, wish I didn't bother!

A quick check of battery stats sees Facebook messenger responsible for 28% - I've not opened this app today or received a single message from it.

I would agree with this, albeit for different reasons - my issue is the software tweaks that are, in my opinion, unnecessary!

I have to say if mine was on 9% on a heavy usage day I'd be appalled - let alone if I'd hardly used it!

I'd try a factory reset to see if it helps if I were you - 91% usage in a day sounds very wrong - I'm rarely below 60% after a fairly heavy day!

Doesn't factory reset get rid of photos/video/texts etc?

Just checked and yep, can't really be doing with that.

I also agree that the tweaks don't feel great. The notification bar was perfect before, so much clearer than now.

One feature that has really irked me is when wanting to quickly turn GPS on/off, I now need to pull down the bar with two fingers to access that menu. Before I could simply pull down and click the menu button on the top right. Really petty but it's turned into a two handed operation now to turn my gps on/off.

EDIT : Ignore that, just realised its now a double single finger pull down now.
