*** The Official HTC One M8 Thread ***

So it's quite a bit bigger then... 147mm and 160g! (For the 3000mAh+ battery I assume?) That's dangerously close to the Note 3. :D:D:D

I really hope the back camera isn't 4MP again, 8MP would be better.

MPs aren't important but the Toshiba 5MP dual camera unit has a 16MP shot mode. If both sensors are 4MP they could do something similar, shame HTC have never lived up to the hype.

It's 2600 mAh according to the info above. A touch on the low side but it should do.

I know they aren't massively important but 4MP isn't at all kind to any sort of cropping/zooming, should be at least 8.

the more details that come out about this phone the less likely I am going to get it. It seems very unimpressive.

It's a fair point however I don't think more MP will aid detail with a sensor of this relative small size. With the current crop of normal ~1/3" with 10+MP, they all look pretty poo when you go to achieve a decent level zoom/crop.

Below is a 4MP image and there is still loads of usable detail.

You need to have the matching the optics and sensor size if you want to make use of the extra pixels. The MP race has always been a farce on small sensors. Pure marketing.

Jesus Christ, can someone explain how I'm supposed to keep games on my phone with only 10gb onboard?

Like others have said it has a SD card, so keep all media on that and just leave the 10gb for apps. It Isn't ideal and I would much rather a 32gb internal and then a SD card, but too me it looks like HTC is just cutting down a little on the production cost of the M8, I believe the HTC One was very expensive.

I'm having a hard time choosing a new phone at the mo.

Nexus 5 ticks all the boxes, Slight trade off in camera specs and CPU (Likely countered by the lightness of stock andriod anyway)
Another major bonus for me is the shape and 32gb internal space

Sony has a nice design, great sounding camera, Seems very tall though but comes with the added bonus of waterproof-ness, 3gb of ram and the new snapdragon
. Only 16gb internal (but can expand)

HTC:
Providing the above is true then it seems a bit thick and like the sony sounds pretty tall.
Potentially the best build but i would personally much prefer 32 on board than 16 and a sd slot.

Oppo, Lots of potential but also might be a bit massive.

Samsung:
Never again.
Bloat,
Plastic
8gb free storage

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you.

I can upgrade now, just stuck on what to go for.

Options are (no particular order);
Nexus 5 (Cheapest)
Note 3 (Not bothered by the size at all)
Wait for the new HTC
Galaxy S5 (Underwhelming, but seeing the Official Hands On makes me think it's got potential)

Suggestions appreciated.

There could well be a 32GB model too, so no need to fret just yet.

Loving the colour!

Damn that waste of space logo!!

Just came here to comment on that, it is a starting to look like an awesome device. I agree that waste of space Logo :@ and the battery is still 2600mha with a device bigger then the Z2 Volume wise (Guessing here since the curve back will make it much more complicated to work out).

Camera is weird too, 5MP front shooter just seems so OTT, and it having more MP then the back shooter will lead to some real confusion unless they market/advertise it properly to the masses.

Hmm, there are parts that are better and those which are worse. The finish is very nice but the HTC logo on the front annoys me a lot.
