***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

I've never changed the radio on mine, but I was under the impression that the new firmware package updates the radio anyway?

I presume it does - the mobile signal on mine has improved significantly at home since the upgrade. I just wondered how much difference it makes (re. signal strength and battery life) to use the recommended radio when changing Rom.

The Android Revolution thread specifically states a recommended radio so I'm assuming it's different to the one in the FW package?

I'm sure my phone said it was flashing a radio when updating the firmware.

On another note. I found a version of UltraSmoothRosie that works with Sense 3.5 and ICS, and my god, is this phone smooth now! The entire phone is a joy to use now with very little lag in anything! But Sense is super smooth, comically so!

I've just bought the Sensation xe, generally happy with it. Previously had a Desire S. I do miss the way your wallpaper would scroll left & right when you go through all the home screens, and you're still forced to crop wallpapers down to god knows what, even when you make them 960x540.

On ICS my wallpaper scrolls.

Can the firmware be flashed through Clockwork recovery?

Nope, you need to dump the PG58IMG file on the SD card, then boot into the bootloader. The bootloader will ask if you want to flash the file.

Be warned! THIS PROCESS WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY BRICK THE DEVICE IF YOU HAVE THE WRONG FILE.

Read this thread first:

EDIT: Make sure you check the MD5 sum of the file AFTER you have copied it to the SD card. A damaged or incomplete file will also brick the device. Make sure you have plenty of battery too. I have noticed that my phone doesn't always go into charge mode in the bootloader/recovery, so don't rely on that.

Well i've had my Sensation XE a good couple of weeks now, decided rather than mess about with it like i did with the Galaxy SII, gonna leave it stock and wait for the offical OTA update for ICS from HTC.

And tbh the slight lag i get with sense on the stock rom, doesn't bother me at all, battery life for me is good to, but i properly cycled mine 4 times from full to nothing which seemed to help a lot rather than keep charging it all the time.

For some reason I can't get any data network, even switching roms I'm not getting any data network it just randomly stopped working :s
