***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

I thought the same thing at first but I found sense to be really inconsistent, it's liquid smooth in places and laggy in others, AOSP ICS is ultra smooth and lightning fast ALL the time. Also all the subtle animations and general 'slickness' of the UI are leaques ahead of sense IMO.

I agree about the FC issues though, I don't find them that bad but it is probably a build or two away from being a suitable daily driver rom for a lot of people.

Had my Sensation since Christmas and getting tired of Sense now. What is the top dog of AOSP roms (Gingerbread and ICS)?

Is ICS usable as a daily?

I've been running Insertcoin ICS for a few days now and am generally happy with it (I don't use sense though, using Go Launcher instead).

Main issue I've got is even with Wifi sleep policy set to Never, it switches off wifi when the screen is off and switches mobile data on. This is giving a higher battery drain due to more power required for mobile data. Anyone else having any similar issues?

I use trip's AOSP ICS daily, but there are a few issues that may frustrate you and put you off using it as a daily. The main issues being:

- Camera doesn't work (force close after taking pic).
- Bluetooth doesn't work.
- Random reboots and FCs.
- Email client doesn't display emails correctly, rendering them unreadable.

It probably isn't suitable as a daily for most people, but I have personally not found those issues too intrusive and am happily using it as a daily :)

New Sense leaks are out. 4.0.3 this time, apparently a shed load quicker. InsertCoin and ARHD are the quickest to release.

They all need a new firmware package flashed first, which help speed up the device. Even recommended on non-ICS roms. I just flashed it on the wifes CM7 rom, it does seem quicker (I did a Nandroid back up first, I needed to restore it afterwards to boot)

Had my Sensation XE for a few days and used the earphones today to listen to music. I later noticed it had attempted to make several calls from my contact list! I noticed the little phone icon on the earphone lead controls so must have got pressed by mistake. Is there a way to disable it?

I flashed the new FW package and didn't notice any difference on AOSP, but that was stupidly quick anyway. I took the opportunity to give the latest ArHD a go and to be fair it is a HUGE improvement over the previous version, almost no lag and very smooth indeed. Still not up to AOSP levels of slickness, but very impressive for a sense Rom.

Itching to flash some new stuff, but I haven't got a charger in work and the battery is running low!

Somehow it seems the phone hasn't got SuperCID any more either, although I definitely did it before.

About to flash ARHD 6. Had some clenching moments messing with CID and flashing a new firmware, but it seems to have gone smoothly...

Only thing with this is having a locked bootloader again. As the bootloader version has been updated. You can go back to 1.17 Revolutionary, but can't boot the ICS roms with it. So what does this mean in real terms? Not a lot really, can't use some advanced fastboot commands etc. The important bit is it's still S-OFF.

Download site for ARHD is comically slow though. Boo!

Yeah I'm currently using ArHD 6 until a more stable AOSP release, like I said it is impressively quick and smooth for a Sense rom. I still prefer vanilla ICS over sense though.

You can use HTCDev.com to unlock the 1.23 bootloader.

Cool, might well give that a go. Not entirely sure it's needed as such, but damn it, I like it saying UNLOCKED! :D

ARHD6 installed, just restoring apps etc. Anyone know of ultra smooth rosie works on this rom? I really don't need the 3D part of sense and flattening makes it insanely smooth.

I've always found the 3D home screen liquid smooth on sense, infact it was one of the elements of sense that has always been consistently smooth in ArHD, even when other elements were laggy. If there was a way of having the sense 3D homescreen on an otherwise vanilla AOSP I would be on it in a heartbeat, it's the best part about sense IMO, and about the only part of sense I would take over vanilla ICS.

What's the battery life like though? Currently using Insertcoin 4.0.(5, I think) and it insists on having data on permanently which is eating through my battery.

Also, is going SuperCID and flashing the new FW as scary as it sounds or is it as simple as the instructions make out?

I was worried at first, but I just followed the instructions and it went without a hitch, much simpler than I was expecting.

I went to ARHD 6.0.1 XE last night. Was absolutely baffled as to why it was only installing with the 1.2ghz Kernel, thought I'd reflash the ROM and there was the new 4EXT recovery which let me select 1.5ghz.

I'm going to leave off going to 6.0.2 since there seems to be more problems and most of the improvement are for Sensation 4G's.

Firmware upgrade...DONE!

Something I haven't played around with yet is changing the radio. Do you normally used the recommended radio when changing rom? Does it make a difference? (I know this can be subjective because radios are location specific).
