***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

It's probably been asked before but I'm having trouble deciding between the XE and XL. I like both!

The screen size of the XL is appealing, but the quality of the XE might be worth it? Then the CPU - is the dual-core on the XE worth purchasing over the XL? Or will the XL be fine?

I know there's the bigger onboard memory on the XL, but no expansion options. 16GB is plenty, if it's faster.

Any help?

The only thing better in the XL is the big screen - everything else is better on the XE.

cpu, gpu, camera, storage, higher res screen, bigger battery.

However both will work as a smartphone just fine - the sensation may just a bit smoother and quicker. Are you interested in any other phone such as the SGS2 or nexus?

I had the SGS1, which unfortunately got nicked at a concert, and I really loved it, although it was a bit laggy/buggy after a while.

I've not really had a look at the Nexus, I just figured it was one of the cheaper, inferior Galaxys.

The XL looks really nice though. :o But I don't want to be six months down the line getting frustrated with it because it's not as fast.

Decisions!

I'm going from an Xperia Play which has been doing my head in. Also dropped it down the toilet, which has affected performance a little. :P

As far as I've heard the XL may look like a Sensation but everything else about it is not a Sensation.

I'm still kinding leaning towards the XL though for it's bigger screen and onboard memory. I can't foresee me using many, if any, apps that will really need the dual-core. I don't really play intensive games on touchscreen phones, only the little jump and shoot crappy ones. I tend to listen to music mostly, check FB/Forums and watch videos (memory and YouTube) and I'm thinking the larger screen will make that the most enjoyable.

It's still faster than the Xperia Play, so it'll still be a delicious upgrade, as well as .7" bigger screen.

Ultimately if screen size doesn't concern you and you want it to be big, get the Galaxy Note.

If it's a toss up between the Sensation and Galaxy range, get the Galaxy S II or the Galaxy Nexus, they're better than the Sensation and you'll notice the difference.

I went with the Nexus, it should be here tomorrow. It's pretty much the same size as the XL, but with better hardware and a better screen. Thanks guys. :) Managed to save £100 with TopCashback and 1/2 price line rental. And I should get close to £100 for my Xperia Play which is decent. :)

I restored my Sensation from a backup recently and I've noticed that when I select recipients when texting I have every contact shown twice i.e. the phone & SIM contact, anyone know how to get rid of this? I've checked in people and I only have people selected there and that only shows those contacts.

One option would be to sync all contacts to gmail, then delete all contacts from the phone/sim.

my m8`s got the nexus and and i had a choice between 2 phones nexus and the sensation xl or xe for me ive made the right choice and had the xl feels and looks imo so much better than the other two, the 1.5 processor is very snappy and it streams movie`s great it certainly feels as quick as the nexus.

I've been using the Darkforest rom since midweek with LeeDroids ICS tweeks. I'm really impressed with this rom its really stable and really fast. Worth a try for anyone who's looking for a new rom and is now my new daily driver.

The nexus has a dual core, the XE has a 1.4GHz dual core, the XL is a Sensation on the outside but on the inside it's a lower end phone.

Ive tried searching the whole web, xda, android forums etc but still no luck. Ive tried running 3 different ics roms (CM9, Revolution and Insertcoin) on my standard sensation but get to the boot screen and freeze / boot loop

My phone has CWM, Super CID, S-OFF, 3.24 ruu, HBOOT 1.27 and radio 11.68 but none of the roms will boot. I flashed 3.12 (as someone said that for some people, ICS ROMS only work on 3.12), but still no luck, everything flashes fine but just will not boot. Now im back to stock sensation ROM for now :(

Anyone had a similar experience or any ideas, I'm pretty sure ive got all the right components and the right ROM versions.

Thanks :)

I decided to give this a try and WOW, I'm extremely impressed with it. It's the first sense rom I've used that comes close to the speed and fluidity of an ICS AOSP rom. It's lighting fast and very smooth and slick, and really stable too.

Very impressive :)

I'm really impressed with it as well. Install Leedroid Tweaks v4 Lite which has a lot more tweaks than what comes in the rom and you can turn the smooth rosie tweaks on and a lot more besides.

Right just a bought cheap one as a stopgap upgrade for my desire (still got that for another few months) is this as easy as the desire was to s-off and root and install roms etc? havent really looked at xda too much yet
