***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

My phone seems to turn itself off several times during the day. The battery is always very high so its not running out of charge. I also had a problem today with the phone overheating in my pocket. Turned out the up time and awake time were practically the same; a few seconds off. This was despite the screen being off. So I charged it up and its fine now.

I've currently got Android Revolution HD 3.6.12 running (3.6.13 caused me a few problems so I went back to the previous version). Can anyone suggest another ROM to try? I'm after something nice and stable with ICS if possible but without Beats Audio. I would update to the latest stable version of ArHD's Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) + Sense UI 3.6 but the steps to upgrade to that look quite menacing!

The Darforest rom is really good with great battery life with Sebastions latest kernal. Its really smooth and fast although I think it has beats, there are options for other music enhancements in the installer but not sure if you can remove beats. I've never had a FC, random restart or shutdown with it.

got major issues with mine sensation, it was actually a refurb one (probably a big mistake) whilst it was in almost imaculate condition I cant for the life of me get any ics roms running smoothly :( its like there is a screen fault and that someone is touching the screens opening up apps, keyboards etc etc but without touching it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2Bvf0FfTlU&feature=youtu.be rubbish video taken with my desire but you get the jist hopefully

Very bizzare indeed, only thing is its perfect when in the Stock GB rom, fortunately I can go back to that easily enough but not sure how I can explain the fault without saying Ive flashed custom roms....

Cheers. Got any links or am I looking in XDA?

pretty easy really, wheres your phone at currently?
It's on my desk charging. :D

Is it rooted and s-off'd? Have you done supercid? and which firmware are you currently running?
Rooted and S-off'd I think. I recall having to do that for ArHD. Anyway to check those two out? And firmware isn't listed here. Is it Android version? Or kernel version? :o I REALLY should know this!

LOL!

pull the battery then put back in and press vol down + power

It will tell you if your s-off etc, im guessing your still on Gingerbread then, so you will have to update the firmware

Did you change you CID to 11111111 as instructed in the S-Off and routing instruction thread. If not do that, it isn't hard and doesnt take long. Then download the darkforest rom, you need the rom on your sd card as when you have installed the firmware you old rom won't boot. Once you have it and have checked the hash matches download the firmware from here its the
Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU you want.

Now back up all the data and apps you want to keep, then reboot into recovery and install the firmware. Once you have done that the phone will reboot, pull the battery at that point as you either need to remove the firmware file from you sd card or put another sd card with the rom on it into the phone. Then you can reboot into recovery and install the rom.

Okey dokes, Android is 2.3.4 which is Gingerbread isn't it?

Having done vol down + power I'm seeing the following:

Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.17.1111
RADIO-10-14-9035.01_M
eMMC-boot

So yes, S-OFF has been done. And I'm more sure I've rooted this as I had to for Android Revolution HD. I think. :D

No, haven't done that. Is the S-off and rooting instruction thread on XDA?

Downloaded. I'll copy it over to my SD card later. :)

Just downloaded that too.

Have a look here mate, this is how i did mine, you need adb setup and installed on your pc if you dont already.

Look at step 4. I had to do the second method

Cheers. Some of that thread looks familiar. Maybe I used some of it when setting up for ArHD.

So I can start from step 4 onwards yes? :)

Cheers for your help. I should know this but I do this so infrequently that I forget! :o

yeah you should be fine doing that, wont harm doing step 3 to permaroot your phone unless you know youve already done that, what custom recovery do you have installed? as if thats an old version could probably do with updating
I'll do the permaroot tomorrow. Recovery is 4EXT Recovery Touch 1.0.0.3 Beta 8.
