***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

If I went with the SGS2 i was stepping into the unknown and then I heard stuff about flimsy etc, so made my mind up with the Sensation :)

you didnt even hold an SGS2 then before going for the sensation? The only people who have ever said the sgs2 is flimsy must not have actually held one.

Listening to music on it, I would probably say a day...

Im just a fan of HTC's and I had my previous magic for 2 years, and it was very robust, so I knew the type of phone it was and what it can hold up to etc, so for that reason I went for the HTC. Great, thank you for this! Doesn't sound like battery life is going to cause me any issues then. Certainly no more than on my iPhone. :)

I've got a sim free sensation on order and was wondering whats the speaker volume like, there were a lot of people complainimg about the volume on the desire hd, I've got a dhd and the speaker volume is ok but not the best.

Or they have read T3 magazine who say "It's wafer thin back feels as if it could snap at the slightest provocation, while the general feel of the thing is nasty, nasty, nasty. That aside , it's a triumph.". They sum the review up with great phone but disappointing build quality.

Its wafer thin back is super flexible, you can tie a knot with it and it wont snap. :p

Most review places haven't said it feels nasty, obviously some people think it does but I disagree (as we know ;)). Weight aside I don't think the Sensation feels that great either, I wouldn't bother having an argument about the iPhone 4 as that does feel more expensive but the Sensation is just a lump of metal that seems a bit rough around the edges, just like the Desire HD did.

Even so, how often do you take the back off your phone? I don't think I ever do.

Build doesn't mean everything its what's on the inside that counts and this is where it beats the competition.

If you want the best build you go to the Iphone 4 the Sensation doesn't look like a premium device that does.

I do all the time. One of the main advantages I found going from iPhone to Desire was the ability to swap batteries. It used to be so annoying when I used to wake up and realise I had a whole day out and hadn't charged my iPhone, now I just swap batteries over with a fully charged one. I'm probably going to go for an SGS2 over a Sensation so I hope I don't end up snapping loads of battery covers. I have an Arc at the moment and that is quite scary removing the back.

Fair enough. There is no need to worry, the battery cover (as said) is super flexible, you would have a job breaking it.

lol - what is it with SGSII users shouting from the roof tops about their phones? YES we get it - its technically superior to the Sensation - honestly guys come on - don't make this thread like the one on XDA where its all bitching about SGSII v's Sensation. Use your own thread :P

Thanks for posting the 18month deal with T-Mobile on buymobilephone.net (whoever did!) lol, I've gone for that one - unbeatable Free phone + £30pm 18mnth contract 500mins, 500 texts and unlimited internet. Buymobilephone say it should be June the 20th when they get shipped to end users. NEVER ever again will I do a 2yr contract - I usually get bored of my phone in 6 months :)

I was with o2 for two years and went through to the disconnects team - they didn't even know what a HTC Sensation was yet lol - Said they wern't even planning on stocking them as the phone was nowhere near release so I waved goodbye to o2 :)

Has anyone already got a T-Mobile one? If so - hows the branding?

Looks like XDA already have some users with S-OFF and rooted models - The rom is on there - just a matter of time before bootloading gets cracked, either they'll do it or HTC will lol. I also note HTCDev.com has been setup by HTC - wow, their going all out for us Sense fans - it'll basically mean we get to see much more from the likes of HTC Sense 3.0! - looking forward to getting my hands on it

There is no shouting from the rooftops, when two rival phone companies both release a phone at the same time, comparisons are made. Sorry if it upsets you.

Which is pretty much exactly how I'd sum it up as well. I had a good go with a friends yesterday and frankly it was an absolutely awesome phone. The screen was brilliant and clear, everything was fast and snappy - it was excellent.

But the general feel of the thing was indeed 'nasty, nasty, nasty'.

Such a shame because it turns what ought to be a no-brainer into quite a difficult decision.

There really is. I don't know if you guys just dont realise how you are coming across but the fact so many people are picking up on it ought to give you an idea of how its being perceived.

As a SGS2 owner, even I agree. When I was looking at the Sensation (as I originally was a month or two back) all the Sensation threads, and not just here, were all invaded by the SGS2 owners or potential owners.

Constructive posts in threads discussing the two are fine, but the threads supposed to be about the Sensation ended up with plenty of posts from SGS2 owners, just belittling the Sensation.

It's a shame to be honest. I thought the only true fanboys where the Apple sheep (and I mean the sheep, not those who buy it knowing what they're getting), but it seems the disease is spreading. :(

Very well, but as I said this is a mobile forum, comparisons are going to be made between two 'similar' phones. It will happen, it has happened in all 'Official X phone' threads to date and it will continue to happen.

And there it is...

Apple 'sheep fanboys' stick their heads in the sand and claim things are superior when they don't know what they are talking about and have nothing to back it up. That is not the case here, if you skip back over the last few pages you will see that people have asked "Hmm, I still can't decide between this and the SGS2", so I might say, why? And the follow the post up from that.

Obviously all posts about the SGS2 are going to sound 'fanboyish' because it is a technically superior phone - nobody has denied that -, that is not the intention, just the inevitability of how things will come across.
