***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

I have 5 existing contracts open with them (not all for me, obviously) and said that I wanted one of the phones upgrading WITHOUT extending the contract (which isn't that old anyway) as a goodwill gesture, and they agreed to £110 (down from £160). I didn't change the minutes, etc.

Thanks for the clarification... I will also be interested in hearing your comparisons... in due course. :)

Who holds their phone like that when actually using it? No one that's who.

A lot of people are suggesting its quite bad, but others say its absolutely nothing.

However, you don't need to worry about calls dropping because of this, when a call is connecting/connected, more power is sent to the antenna, meaning that the antenna can maintain a much stronger signal. :)

Prediction: Robbo gets Sensation. Declares signal awful and build quality no better than Samsung.

Do you really think I would do that unless it's what I genuinely thought? I'll be perfectly fair.

In fact, if I find it better overall I'll even use it as my main phone over the Galaxy S II, just because the Galaxy S II is technically superior doesn't mean I'll benefit from all its superiorities if I don't use them. Much like you said about yourself in the 'vs' thread.

Well I've had my Sensation since May 19th and I'm very happy with it. I won't go into any Sensation v SGSII discussion but I'll simply say that I'm so happy with my Sensation I'm having it sent back to Vodafone so they can repair the dodgy camera that's just gone weird. Took loads of photos in London last week and it was fine. On Wednesday we had our yearly electrical safety testing. Just one device failed, from the Science department so I thought I'd get a picture of it for posterity. Out comes the phone, on turns the camera and that's when I notice the lines in pairs repeated across the screen. See pic in link. :p

I gave Vodafone a call last night and they're sending out some pack I have to read the contents of, pack my phone into and return the pack to Vodafone to have the camera repaired.

The guy I spoke to did say that when it was repaired the latest version of the phone would be loaded onto my Sensation. Whether that was a generic thing he said and whether it related to the Android (I've got 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 is coming soon no?) or the Vodafone part of it I'm not sure but we'll see what happens when I get the phone back.

Shame about the camera Marc :(

If Vodafone have got wind of a new firmware version, it could be the bootloader unlock and that may come with 2.3.4, I'm not sure. Lets hope so!

Yeah. I'm confident it wasn't me. It's been in my jeans pocket with my hanky for protection! :p No keys or anything like that in there. There's no damage, i.e. cracks/scratches, on the lens or on the phone casing around the lens. From the picture I took I'd hazard a guess at the sensor being a bit dodgy. Since I've not dropped the phone at all I think it just a failure. :0

BINGO! :D That's the first thing I thought when I was told that. It may have been something he was reading from a screen, as in Vodafone tell their staff to say this but I got the feeling he meant it and he wasn't just reading it off a screen. Doesn't mean that 2.3.4 is available but I did believe him when he said that.

No, it happens all the time, that post said that putting a cover on would make it worse, not better.

I guess I'll see what's what tomorrow, I can't imagine it will be that much of an issue but you never know.

Oh. Well I haven't noticed anything yet with that issue. I got an email on my work account through my phone today when I was on the train. It was a brilliant feeling when I got to work to say to my colleague who sent me the email that I'd seen it. He wondered how on earth I'd seen his email from 20 minutes earlier when I'd just arrived. :D:cool:

Did this post just slip through a time vortex from 2003? :D

Is this your first smartphone then? :p

They are incredibly useful for things like emails!
Haha, no! I had an HTC Magic before this. However whenever I put my work email details into the Magic it'd promptly 'forget' the account several days later. Eventually putting it back on knowing it'd go again soon got a bit boring.

I've sent HTC a message seeing if I can get one in for review and have referenced the GSII review which featured on Neowin so here's hoping :p
