***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

I guess you are a Sense person mate so you should have got a Sensation if you like this and no matter what anyone would have said about the GS2 the Sensation is the phone for you.

I personally don't get what the big fuss about sense is it doesn't look anything special to me but each to there own I guess, maybe you should go and play on a Sensation and see if its what you want and flog the GS2 as I doubt you will be happy if you are a HTC man.

I do like HTC there is no point denying it, I have had a fair few but never that loyal to change if I think something else is better. I have had an iPhone 4 for the last 12 months, generally happy with it except it bores me most of the time & then there is apple controlling everything you do.

Like you say, need to have a play with one really first.

I've got the Galaxy S II setup as best as I can and it still isn't as nice as Sense. The extra res really makes a difference on things like the text messaging screen and contacts, etc.

Just canceled this through P4U phones packed up waiting to be sent back, was nice using it for 5 days but its not as good as the GS2 as a all round phone for me(my personal opinion).

MIght look at the evo 3d or Optimus 3d next.

Nevermind, I really don't get what it is that people rave about the GS2, Its got good points but its just not a match for me.

Its personal taste in the end its good we all like different things I might dip in the water of HTC again with the Evo 3D which is pretty much a Sensation just with 1gb ram and 3d on it so for me that offers something different to what I have now.

Just unsure when its actually out in the UK.

Its totally untouchable hardware power, if multimedia is your thing then it's better by a long, long way.

If not, it's much of a muchness really.

So you guys know: I was told by the staff in an Orange store that the Sensation has failed it's security tests and so there's little chance of it being shipped out this or next week. I called Orange and they confirmed this, telling me that July seems more likely, possibly later depending on when they get their software working.
Goddamnit, I don't want their crappy software! Ship it unbranded, I'm sure most of us would prefer that!

How about:

- An amazing quality screen overall compared to the sensation (colours, viewing angles, blacks are black, same for whites, better for battery life, easier to read stuff etc. in sunlight etc.)
- More RAM
- A lot more internal storage
- A lot smoother and slightly quicker out of the box than the sensation, especially for websites when scrolling or playing flash and scrolling at the same time
- Super light, thinner, great build quality (personal preference and the build quality of the sensation is very good as well)
- Better battery life overall
- Better codec support out of the box and can play nearly every film file etc. thrown at it perfectly fine, where as the sensation can't (using moboplayer)
- Custom ROMs etc. available where as with the HTC sensation there is no word as to when the bootloader will be unlocked.
- Much better camera/video recording especially in low light conditions

Have I missed anything :p

The only thing, which I like about the sensation is sense V3 (but would probably replace most of the stuff with third party apps and put a stock ROM or CM 7 on as soon as possible anyway), the look of it and the extra resolution but those pros aren't good enough to out weigh the rest of the GS 2 strong points for me. Plus with the GS 2, I honestly don't think I would bother rooting and putting a custom ROM on as it seems great just out of the box for me.

I don't think the difference between the screens is all that big though, I'd say the SAMOLED+ certainly takes it, but not so much that it would influence my decision very heavily.

Blacks on screen are the only thing I will miss. The rest I can take or leave, I also don't agree about sunlight, my old HD2 & iPhone are better.

GS2 is too light and slippy

Battery is fair game, I always buy spares anyway.

The first film I tried on the GS2 didn't play and there is always 3rd party video players, I also don't mind converting

GS2 feels rushed and unfinished

Camera lag is an issue

Possible issues with screen burn!!

Screen Res when looking at small text is poor

Colours oversaturated and the whites are blue

The sensation may act a little slower but I bet in real terms there aint much in it, especially when the devs get started on it.

I don't mean to start an argument but we are never gonna agree. LOL ;)

Personally, I notice a big difference between the screens when it comes down to colours, especially blacks :p, just find the sensation screen quite washed out looking overall, but the res makes up for that.

Still the sensation has a great quality screen when compared to most other mobiles on the market, just wish it was AMOLED or something better.

And also my layout is similar to khaaans so blacks have to be black :p

Snip

Lol, yup, I can see that :p

Just a few things though..... :p

I meant playing films with moboplayer from the market, not using the default video player.

Did you try changing the display mode in settings>display, there are 3 options to choose from and all are vastly different looking IMO, over saturated colours, more natural colours (not the names of the different modes :p) etc.

The whites couldn't get any whiter on the GS 2 IMO.

And that is all...

:p
