Well I have had a Sensation delivered today, will look at it when I get home.

I now have my old iPhone 4, a new GS2 and now the Sensation. Gonna use the sensation for a bit then make a decision of which one to keep and sell the other 2.

Come on Sensation, blow me away!!!!

If you're a fan of Sense it won't take much to 'blow you away', I think you'll like it.

Thought I'd register so I could chip in. Got mine from o2 today through the post. Pretty pleased with that since I only rang yesterday. Right, impressions:

First thing I noticed was that when I put it on charge I could feel the current running through the phone, like a slight vibration to the touch. Anyway, charged it, set it up. No branding whatsoever that I can see except a blue o2 "bubble" wallpaper set by default to the background.

The screen to me looks amazing, individual pixels are pretty hard to point out and the colours/contrast are amazing. People go on about how deep the blacks are in AMOLED but the blacks on this screen look as close to "off" as you can get.
Installed about 30 standard apps such as flash, google earth, facebook, bbc news etc from the "top free" list all at once with just a slight hudder here and there and practically finished the same time I'd finished selecting things.
The shutter speed on the camera is amazing too, the second you press the capture button its done. No slight jump, no pretending to be done and then saving what happened half a second later. It's like an instant capture.

So finally I decided to test the "death grip" by downloading Wi-Fi analyzer from the market which shows a meter needle of strength. Sitting right next to my o2 router (b/g only, no n) it's fine, in the next room it's fine. Then when I turned the phone sideways it literally dropped to absolute zero :(
If I hold the bottom end of the phone with my right hand in landscape orientation the signal stays fairly normal, then I lay literally just the tip of a finger with my left hand on the top end of the phone and again, drops to absolute zero. Even tried setting Wi-Fi performance to maximum in the advanced settings.

To me this isn't "slight variation" on signal strength as HTC have said, or something that "does not affect the performance of the phone in normal circumstances". I literally cannot hold the phone in landscape mode without Wi-Fi dropping to nothing. It may just be that it's my handset, so I'm probably going to swap it for a new one and see if it's any better. Really disappointed though because other than that I think it's amazing and just thought the death grip issue was probably a lot of hot air and exaggerated.

I have a problem with mine that is probally just a settings issue. I was talking to mrs earlier on mine and after I spoke I could hear my voice through the ear piece .5 second later. Is this my settings? Or the fact the mrs has hers so loud that its going back through her mic back to me??

Hehe, yeah I am a fan so I think you will be right. ;)

Hello Sensation! Bye Bye Galaxy S2!!

I am so pleased (so far), yes its not as snappy as the gs2 but lets face it, its doing more stuff with less ram.

I was a bit worried at first as it was really laggy & slow but then I realised it was downloading and installing about 50 apps that I had previously downloaded on the GS2. Once I stopped them all, it started to run properly!

So far all the little niggles that anoyed me with the GS2 are now working like a charm. One simple thing is the mail app has select all! Simple but it makes me happy.

It is so much nicer to use too, everything looks pleasing to the eye and not rough as you know what!!

There is so much more to it! All I can say is YAY!

I just tried this on mine with the same app. I have virtually no difference in signal at all. It fluctuates but no more than normal. I'll try my wifes when she gets home, maybe theres a bad batch of backshells.

Unfortunately, no :(

Will get one when I have the money for it, I would have to buy outright as I am still in the middle of my contract and can't upgrade till December, have tried to, but they won't have it  (don't think I could wait that long and plus there will be something better out by then as well). Contract expires in April.

Glad you happy with your Sensation richardirv after what you said your requirements are its the phone for you, mines gone back today just couldn't get on with it for me the GS2 is better in every way, after messing on the sensation and coming back on the GS2 it was so much faster at everything and by the time I would have had the Sensation loaded up it would have frustrated me with the lack of ram.

They both load (most) things at pretty much the same speed though Jabbs, it's just the Galaxy S II has no juddering so gives a perception of more speed, it isn't actually that much faster.

It is the better phone though overall, absolutely.

Im in a pickle,

Wanna move off my iphone 4 (only had it 4months, cant stand it) but undecided as to which phone to get out of 4,

Sensation
GS2
Nexus S
Lg WP7

I know the Nexus s is old, and spec wise inferior now, but i do like the look of the phone itself, and is a lot more cheaper.

LG WP7 is more of a "id like to try" thing, i gave wp7 a go the first week it was out on a HD7, but got rid of that phone within a week, so didnt have a proper go lol.

As for the sensation/gs2, its tricky, they both have pros/cons (hoping you could give info on whats bad/good bout both there Robbo as you've played with them)

I do a lot of browsing, music, and i do love customising, play the odd game, also looking to play Flash on websites (damn apple) and play films/tv shows from the phone to my tv.

Anyway thanks for any help.

It is stupid that it hasn't got 1gb or more ram. HTC do wind me up with their choice of hardware. But the interface and the amount of thought that goes into the widgets and underlying messaging, mail, weather, social integration and the rest is just streets ahead of what the GS2 offers.
