***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

Im in a pickle,

Wanna move off my iphone 4 (only had it 4months, cant stand it) but undecided as to which phone to get out of 4,

Sensation
GS2
Nexus S
Lg WP7

I know the Nexus s is old, and spec wise inferior now, but i do like the look of the phone itself, and is a lot more cheaper.

LG WP7 is more of a "id like to try" thing, i gave wp7 a go the first week it was out on a HD7, but got rid of that phone within a week, so didnt have a proper go lol.

As for the sensation/gs2, its tricky, they both have pros/cons (hoping you could give info on whats bad/good bout both there Robbo as you've played with them)

I do a lot of browsing, music, and i do love customising, play the odd game, also looking to play Flash on websites (damn apple) and play films/tv shows from the phone to my tv.

Anyway thanks for any help.

I haven't played with them, I own them :p

Well, the Sensation and Galaxy S II are the ones you want to be deciding between, the Nexus S and LG Optimus 7 seriously aren't worth bothering with at this stage.

When it comes to the Galaxy S II and Sensation, the simple way to put it is that you should always try and get the Galaxy S II unless there is something about it you don't like. For some it is the build quality, they hate it, I think it's very good and I like it, but the Sensation is a nicer looking phone overall.

As you love customising, you'll get on well enough with TouchWiz on the SGS2, it is functionally very good but some parts of it are ugly, but overall it's fine. You can modify nearly everything about it so it shouldn't be an issue.

Music and media features EASILY goes in favour of the Galaxy S II, though there isn't a big difference in sound quality through the earphones but the loudspeaker is far better and you can root it and modify the sound in more depth. Browsing is similar really, the SGS2 stock browser can be a bit dodgy and the HTC one is nicer, but there are many custom ones.

Games will look better on the SGS2 screen as well, and it will use less power when on. Flash performance on websites is quite a lot better on the SGS2 as well.

Anything more specific, ask away.

only just noticed sensations have now appeared on o2's site and seem somewhat too cheap, on equivalent contracts it's cheaper than the desire s and substantially more so than the sgs2. Trying to make the decision by payday between sgs2 and sensation, think I'm likely to go sgs2 but not 100% yet.

They appeared on the site yesterday, even though it has still got it listed on the "coming soon" page. It's hidden at the bottom of the list too. I was due an upgrade and wanted the 600 mins tariff with the free phone for £32 a month on a 24 month contract, the upgrade site wouldn't let me do it at that price.

I rang up my local store (Newcastle Under Lyme) and they told me that sometimes when phones first come out they do a "bonus" contract with £5 a month knocked off the price for a short while. So my £32 a month contract should have been £37. That might be why they seem so cheap so I wouldn't hold on too long if you want one at that price!

Absolutely love mine, just gutted I'm going to have to take it back and see if I can swap it for one without the death grip. Seems like they all do it slightly, which would be fine and I could deal with, but the one I have honestly just renders completely useless when held in landscape mode :(

All phones do it slightly, full stop.

If you have a strong signal and it drops entirely just holding it in landscape, it's faulty.

Quick question for those who have been lucky enough the have had their sensations for a while.

I've just got mine today (sim free) I've already got the dhd so know how things work.
I've been trying to remove a couple of unwanted icons on the home screen, things like the help icon and the sms one as I use handcent, I've tried holding the app then the remove pops up at the bottom right, I try tapping the remove but nothing, never had the problem on the dhd, is this a quirk of the new sense

So I got my Sensation back yesterday morning. They'd tried to deliver it on Wednesday but it was too early an hour for my brother to be in the land of the awake. Mum gave me a lift to the sorting office where we picked the package up on the way to the station.

I'm now on the train and I open the package up. Hmm what's this small set of scratches on the phone that weren't there when I sent the phone off? I knew I wouldn't be able to contact Vodafone last night because I was working late on a Leavers' evening at our school. I decided to be all hip and trendy by sending a tweet to @VodafoneUK about the damage. Got told to email them with a certain subject reference. Got a quick reply saying they'll get back to me.

At first I thought the scratches were on the rear case and the main body of the phone itself because the scratches are on the border of the grey and black bit of the case. So I took the case off and to my relief the scratches are on the removable part of the case itself, which makes it a lot cheaper for Vodafone to fix for me. ;)
