***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

Gingerbread manages apps very well, by killing them it will keep re-opening some of them and it will greatly reduce your battery life.

You'll always have low amounts of memory free, that is just how the phone runs. You need to remember 100mb free is still a lot for a PHONE, don't worry about it :p

ok, i'll try not killing apps and see if that helps too, cheers.

You tried opening the camera from lockscreen with pin lock on? mine fails to load the shutter buttons etc...

I haven't tried that personally, but it is currently a known issue with the phone. You'll have to wait for an update to fix it.

yeah i'm not too worried as htc are ussually good at fixing things in updates, but then i am going back to windows mobile.

tell you what was annoying last night, tried to take some pics in low light in a pub of people dancing and it was terrible. really shockingly bad! even more anoying there was a bloke with an iPhone 4 getting great shots!!

I wasn't happy! LOL

Yeah, as I've said many times before, the Sensation is a phone you get for the feel and the software, on the functionality and hardware front it really doesn't hold up all that well.

I really thought HTC would have caught up by now! bit of a joke really.

I do love the phone though. Strange but true! hehe

How do people feel the wifi is optimised on battery? I always found the wifi used less power than 3g on the iPhone 4. I don't know why but it seemed to manage the power very well.

Are you guys leaving the wifi on at home etc or switching it on when needed?

You should leave the wifi on unless you have a steady mobile signal that doesn't switch to 3G (or keep switching to 3G/whatever). Even then the differences aren't that big.

Leave it on unless you're going somewhere where you aren't using wifi.

HHHmmm, I just read summat regarding T-Mobile and them capping HSDPA when contract purchased from a 3rd Party.

I have been wondering over the last few days why my 3G and HSDPA is so sluggish. Just run speed test and I apear to be capped at 350 like others.

Phone call to T-Mobile it seems!! FFS

Just rung them and they say because its a free unlimited internet booster, I am capped to 3g which is a max of 384kbps. I can't recieve HSPA without paying another £5 per month.

I am disgusted! And Royally Pee'd Off! They wouldn't lift the cap! Gits

GOD DAMN IT!!!

I've been waiting a whole bloomin month for the T-Mobile deal of 18 months (Sensation Free, 600mins, 500texts, and unlimited internet) - And they still havn't got it in stock. Now this!?! - We'll be capped to 3G?!? - No wonder they're giving the phone for free on such a contract!

Man, I'm beginning to lose my patience waiting for this thing, My mind says go for the SGSII, and my heart is saying the Sensation.

i have to admit I love sense - it works great, but the technical superiority of the SGSII is driving me nuts - HTC always lack behind in terms of camera, and I tend to use it often these days. Thinking about the screen also - The higher res of the Sensation is supported in a large number of games (I can see apps struggling with it aswell, especially taking into account HTC seem to forget about hardware gfx acceleration these days!)

Been using HTC for 8 or so years now, comfortable with flashing them (once the bootloaders are sorted of course!). Had a Samsung Galaxy about a year ago - it was ok for its time, but I got seriously peeved with samsung for not releasing any official updated roms.

Questions for Robbo - Dude, Odin or whatever its called for the SGSII - any good? easy enough to use as the HTC stuff for flashing?

Software - SGSII - Loads of roms, but nothing amazingly different - any sense ones? - Software is the ONLY thing stopping me from jumping on the SGSII - I ddo admit I've been a sense fanboy from day one!

Any decent 18month contracts for SGSII with phone for free? - I hardly use minutes, bit of texting, mainly data.....

Odin and all the rooting stuff is VERY straight forward, nothing like the massive fart about of rooting the original Desire back in the day.

You can replicate Sense quite easily to some extent, I really don't think you would miss it that much. I really like it but I've got the Galaxy S II setup very nicely and Sense doesn't bother me so much anymore. It is absolutely NOT worth having the inferior phone for.

The below links will have the best deals around, have a look -

Thanks dude!

what worries me even more is the death grip and the fact they now have two screen models aswell!!.

Sense - I know I can replicate most of it using AWD Launcher Pro (or whatever its called!) i.e. The Clock and friends widget. Just thinking about the dialer and the keyboard - i do like the HTC keyboard...

Whats the email client like on the SGSII please - I hate the stock android one! Got a screenie?

The only thing I have against the stock email client is it has a vendetta against Hotmail - keeps popping up with spurious blank messages dated back to 1982 or such every now and then lol!. Thanks for the advice dude - still weighing up my options on which phone to go for.

I know I'm gunna regret it either way :(

I seriously doubt you will regret getting the SGS2, I only know of one person that has so far and it's richardirv in this thread, and I even think he'll end up back on a Galaxy S II by the sound of it :p

I'm probably the most pro HTC Sensation person there is and I'm having real trouble justifying using it for anything over the Samsung, unfortunately.
