***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

The extra resolution is nice in browsing but in day to day usage has the annoying effect of making icons and stuff bigger and not in a good way.

Yea when im web browsing on the SGS2 i sometimes think it would be better to have a bit more height.

Played with the sensation today, glad that HTC has improved build quality my Desire HD was a bi flimsy and creeky, How is the loud speaker? It was useless on the desire HD

It only makes a difference in portrait really too, I couldn't notice much of a difference in landscape.

How have you found the terrible 'wifi death grip'?

It's a bit louder than the Desire HD but still quite quiet.

I have no issues with WiFi. Somtimes it will be disconnected if the phones been in standby but will reconnect pretty quickly once woken.

There's info how to check what screen you have a few pages back.

Dont think its the 'death grip' thing everyone moans about as I don't tend to use it Portrait much. I'm holding it at the base.

I don't own a Sensation but I've had exactly the same issue on my Desire HD and the wife's Desire.

After some advice on XDA, I gave the phone a manual IP address in the Advanced section of wireless config and its seems to have worked. e.g 192.168.0.50

Bit of a pain in the ass but it did work.

Don't suppose you have a Netgear router do you, as most of the folks that have the problem seem to be using Netgears?

They just put out an update for the wifi problem, Can't remember where I read it though. If your phone is unbranded you should get it over the air.

For your txts hit the marked and get sms backup +.
Install it on your desire, backup texts and then install on sensation and restore your texts.

You don't seem to be able to read text while scrolling either. It's nasty and blurry until you stop scrolling.

So far I think this is a fantastic phone almost ruined by its screen.

More Sensation musings from my first full day.

I actually like this phone. It's excellent - the new messaging client is particularly nice, the screen is easier to type on than the Desire as well. I remain dissapointed with the screen as a whole, though, the viewing angles are poor, the colour balance is poor, the blurred text when scrolling thing is poor. It's a fantastic handset almost ruined by its screen.

Battery is fine, mind. It's lasted all day.
