***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

It uses Google voice control, which does need an internet connection to work, yes. Crap isn't it :/

Same on all Android phones unless they have special voice control software, like the SGS2.

Robbo / anyone else who has both devices - how big a difference is the battery life.

I loved my Desire, just felt it was a little too small and chose the SGS2 having ruled out the Sensation ages ago due to its locked bootloader.

Now I've read the latter has changed (should've re done my research) and I'm seriously considering attempting to swap phones, although I couldn't go back to the battery life of the Desire - the SGS2 has me spoilt.

i have s-off and clockwork installed *\o/*

i had 1.17.0011, just did a nandroid backup now about to flash the su zip to get root.

edit: clockwork failed at flashing the su zip
edit2: have to keep retrying to flash su zip until it works.

now have root.

The Sensation battery life is very similar to the Desire, perhaps slightly worse.

Yay the first 3mm of screen down the left hand side of the phone seems to be brighter than everything else. Very visable when viewing ocuk, not so on lighter pages..

HTC clearly have quality control issues with this phone, there are no end of problems with them :(

Mine appears to be fine other than the fact it 'creaks' a bit (due to the design of the shell) if you press the screen firmly :o

S-OFF is finally here for Sensation! Not working on 1.17.0008 bootloaders right now (being fixed).

Link: http://revolutionary.io/

All done & working fine here, although I did have to apply the zip from the sdcard a few times before it worked without errors.

Chainfire3D works fine, but I had to pull the battery & restart the phone manually as it didn't reset it itself.

Now back to RiptideGP & Galaxy On Fire 2 :)

No problems with my device to be honest. Must definitely be down to getting the devices out like Wicksta said.

Got a dock for my Sensation off Ebay for £10.80. Ordered on 27th July. Got it yesterday (29th July!).

It has the ability to charge a battery as well so its a bit bigger than a phone only dock. Will get a spare battery at some point should I need one. :)

Same with the SGS2 though, especially the mic quality. I guess the amount of competition is leading to corner cutting.

What mic quality issue? I';ve only seen isolated reports of people's phones having a problem, nothing widespread. Mine is certainly not suffering any such issue in calls or when recording video.

Worth noting the default mic recording bitrate is set quite low. A modified camera apk increases this which improves quality considerably.

What can I do if I s-off my Sensation?

Flash custom roms & enable permanent root access for apps that survives a reboot / power off, rather than the temp methods which currently need redone each time.

Remember that S-Off atm is a developer beta just now, so there is issues with it like the phone not restarting properly after a reboot & not charging at all when fully powered off.

If you don't desperately need root access for apps, then I personally wouldn't bother atm.

Plus, HTC are apparently unlocking their phones officially some time around the end August / start of September, so there should be less issues once that's available, hopefully...

Well, HTC are only "unlocking" the bootloader. But that doesn't necessarily mean S-OFF sadly.
