***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

What mic quality issue? I';ve only seen isolated reports of people's phones having a problem, nothing widespread. Mine is certainly not suffering any such issue in calls or when recording video.

Worth noting the default mic recording bitrate is set quite low. A modified camera apk increases this which improves quality considerably.

Two out of three of the SGS2's I've owned have had mic issues, one was unusable and went back. There are loads of other people moaning as well, I expect a lot of people don't realise there is a problem because they aren't comparing to other SGS2s. The quality difference between different handsets is large.

But it's not worth arguing with you about it, because everything you buy is perfect. :p

Maybe you just get more bad luck with stuff like this than I do :p

Anyway, nothing is ever perfect. Might have 99 problems but mic issues ain't one!

I've rooted my device and got it S-OFF, but I'm noticing to install other roms I need to make sure it's Radio S-OFF too, but I can't find out how to do this?

Anyone have any ideas?

You don't need radio S-OFF to install a ROM. There isn't anything on xda that mentions that afaik.

If you use the Revolutionary S-OFF tool correctly, the bootloader should say SHIP S-OFF, and that is enough to flash a ROM.

I think the Revolutionary did the radio S-OFF too afaik.

I've got my phone modded, on Android Revolution HD.

Had the CPU overclocked to 1.8GHz but it's bad on the battery so running it at stock.

Speaking of batterys, I got this and it's got good reviews:

Probably is not 1900MaH though.

I have yet another new Sensation. Had it a while - the old one developed a rather bizarre fault whereby it refused to acknowledge the existence of the word 'am'. Save it to dictionary, check its in the customd dictionary, whatever, it would never come up with am in predictive mode.

Popped into CPW on the offchance to see if they'd come across it before and they simply exchanged the phone! Cracking customer service.

Anyway, the more I use this phone the more I begin to really love it. The Desire has gone to the recyclers and as the memories of the AMOLED screen fade you begin to get used to the LCD qHD screen. It's got it's flaws but in isolation (Remember, day to day life isn't a comparison between screens) it looks great and works well. I wish it was a SUPER AMOLED but it isn't and now I'm used to it, it doesnt really detract from the phone.

The rest of the phone is fantastic - it's seamlessly smooth, it's snappy, the form factor is brilliant, the build feels absolutely top notch. I'm thoroughly enjoying owning it.

Quite why there were so many sporadic faults at the beginning I've no idea. Perhaps it just underlines the point a lot of us were making - perceived quality is about how it feels not how well its made..

As long as you're viewing the LCD from the front on, it's not a big deal that it isn't AMOLED. It is a shame how poor the screen can get when even slightly off-angle though.

Other than that it wouldn't bother me. I love the iPhone 4 screen (apart from the size of it) and I'd much rather have that than a SAMOLED+ for example. It also doesn't have any viewing angle problems, so that LCD specific problem can be solved.

Mine refuses to acknowledge loads of words, they're just simply not in the dictionary.

I have no viewing angle problems with my Sensation it's fine from any angle

If you view it from an angle it will appear white and washed out. It's no good saying it doesn't because it does. Fact! :p

Indeed, as I said it isn't really an issue.

It has a privacy advantage too though that is often ignored, it means nosey buggers stood next to you can't see your screen. That can be a bit annoying.
