***The Official HTC Sensation thread***

Does anyone know if you can tweak/mod/download an app that will let you take photo's with a button press (i.e. volume) like the iphone 4s ?

After being underwhelmed with the iPhone 4S and the Galaxy Nexus, 'I want a new phone' urge has taken over and I've just ordered a Sensation XE, was able to get it as a free upgrade on my current contract (only had a month to go). I currently have a iPhone 3GS so hopefully it'll be a nice step up.

This camera bug is really starting to annoy the hell out of me now!

Nearly every time it decides to start taking photos when pressing the home key

Also, does anyone get the issues where u press the power button to lock it, then it appears to come to life again (still locked) then you have to press it again to lock it.. ??

Needs a fix please!

Haven't had that issue myself Kerplunk, my only problem is that I can't seem to take a screen grab but I can't say I'm massively fussed about that. I'd update it if I was you Drexel, the newest update addresses the above mentioned security exploit so I would if I were you :)

I have both of these issues. Both are annoying.

Happily both are pretty much the only issues I have though. I'm otherwise still loving the phone - cant beleive I almost returned it back when I got it. It's really grown on me :)

This :D

Hopefully we might see it next month?

You'll be waiting until 2012, source isn't dropping until December and then you have to wait for HTC who are notoriously bad at updating their phones to the latest software.

HTC might get their hands on ICS earlier than December but, HTC's turn around is the main factor which if history is anything to go by...

Screw HTC, CM or others will have it compiled a few days/week after release I'd imagine!

They will but don't expect a fully functional version, its not as easy as say getting AOSP on the Desire because the Desire could simply use the libs from the Nexus One. For example, it wouldn't surprise me if the quick fire/panorama photo modes in 4.0 are very dependant on the Galaxy Nexus camera sensor and/or SoC. Therefore any libs will simply not hot swap with the Sensation or other phones and HTCs existing libs from Gingerbread obviously won't work.

Samsung gave GS II handsets to those developing CM but the CM release still isn't fully functional. There's also the fact Broadcom don't release specification sheets on how to control their chipsets.

Well mine came today, and overall I'm really pleased with it, the phone itself is fantastic. It feels really nicely built, and the large screen is very nice coming from my iPhone 3GS. The over all user experience is nowhere near as 'slick' as iOS though, but having played with Android devices before this didn't come as a surprise. One thing that I do find quite jarring is the fact that scrolling web pages is nowhere near as smooth as my iPhone was, which I find strange as the hardware in this Sensation is lightyears ahead of the 3GS

The only Android phone that is as smooth as the iPhone browser for scrolling/zooming and OS in general etc is the Galaxy S II as it employs hardware acceleration throughout the entire OS.
