*** The Official iPad (Early 2012) Thread ***

So I'm confused do you like it? You underwhelmed but hen mention pretty screen and glad to have a iPad back:confused:

Well I was underwhelming mainly as I had been looking forward it coming all week even though I knew exactly what to expect :D

I'm happy with it, the screen is superb and like I said having owned an iPad 1 and an Asus Transformer in the past 6 months this really does beat them down to the ground.

I'm quite interested in the new iPad, but as someone who has never owned another Apple product...how possible is it to use just the iPad? I have no interest in iTunes or anything like that. Is it possible to sync it with stuff like Winamp and not have to use any Apple software? Or would I be missing out on functionality?

I think the iPad is renowned for just being plug and play, I mean my Mum can use it, what more info do you need :D iTunes you use to sync music, films, photo's etc, I use it primarily as my music player anyway so doesn't affect me.

Considering the stories here, is there actually ANY quality control?

Of course there is, but any manufacturing process on this scale is bound to have a few issues here and there.

Thankfully you're dealing with one of best companies in the world for sorting this sort of thing out.

Totally love this new screen, speaker sounds more bass'y / louder compared to my ipad 2 too.. Loving browsing websites without zooming :) roll on he Retina apps!

Got mine delivered a couple of hours ago. The TNT man said out of all the iPads he'd delivered today I was the slowest at answering the door. :D

The screen is good, although I've gotten used to it quickly. It's just a lot like the iPhone 4 screen no more no less.

It's a cool gadget but if I already had an iPad 2 I don't think it would be worth the upgrade.
Weight wise... yeah maybe feels a little more weighty than the iPad 2 but not by a lot.

Ring Apple support and ask for a replacement that is unacceptable!

If you have received a defective unit, take it to a nearby apple store with receipt and don't go to genius bar. go straight to the cashiers or assistants on the shop floor and explain the situation. If you go to the genius bar, they'll replace the device with a "remanufactured unit" which looks as new but has different parts. Make sure you take all the trimmings with the pad (as you received it).

I've phoned Apple Care and they have generated an RMA and replacement. The replacement will ship in a few weeks which is roughly when I'd next be able to get to a retail store anyway. It would've been easier to go to a store but since there is a grace period, I would've been out of time if I waited to do it in person....best to get it reported ASAP.

In the meantime I can continue to use my delivered unit which will be picked up only once my new replacement iPad has been delivered.

Mine arrived about 10am this morning - very nice upgrade from my iPad 1. I've downloaded iPhoto but don't fancy messing around with iTunes sync lists to get pics from my pc to mess around with. Does anyone know of any apps to share pics from your pc?

Get hold of photosync from the app store it enables you to copy photos from your pc/mac to the ipad via your wifi connection cheap too.

Cheers

Lets be realistic, with the amount that's been manufactured you'll always get some defective ones. I always judge a company on how they handle this kind of thing.

True, but seems to be quite a high proportion of this thread. Difficult to judge, but seems like a good few. I am sure they will be replaced though.

Any more info on the SJ art?

can u please guys check screen as mine has 2 dead pixels as i am returning it

just ordered new one hope it will be without dead pixels

I've got a dead blue pixel. Is it worth getting trying to get it changed? I did a bit of googling. Read that its within spec and they cant guarantee there wont be any dead pixels, might even be more, but within their tolerance.

Sounds like a result!

I hope everyone gets theirs tonight. Can't believe UKMail have failed people.

Quite impressed with what I've experienced so far. It goes without saying that the screen is stunning to see and use with websites rendering fully now. There is a slight yellow tint on mine vs my iPad1 but iirc I remember this being an issue when the iPad2 came out - adhesive or something.

Playing Real Racing 2 HD has worn the battery out good and proper. The game does look lovely at that silly res. Very smooth too. The battery does take a long time to charge via mains, but with a 42w/h battery it is to be expected. Due to the sheer size and power of the battery it is fair to say that the iPad 3 gets rather hot during intense gaming sessions. I have to ponder at how it'll fare in the summer outdoor heat...
