These rumours of satellite connectivity will have me switching back to iphone for the first time since the 5, if they're true.
Waiting with interest...
Well, it really shouldn't be, the major selling point of satellite services is that they aren't tied to domestic wireless networks.inb4 exclusive to US.
might be a silly question, but whats so special about satellite connectivity?
I guess if you are in the outback/off grid you can still send a message?
Yeah but you never know when you could be kidnapped by aliens and deposited in some remote area in the Nevada wilderness.I suppose that is useful for when you are in remote areas, thanks! Wont really benefit me personally that much as I spend most the time in the city
Same here. It’s a non-issue for me since I wireless charge.
I go solo mountaineering fairly regularly, outside of mobile coverage, a separate satellite communicator is £300 minimum, and another bit of crap to carry around. If I can get emergency satellite comms on my phone, that's a huge plus for me.might be a silly question, but whats so special about satellite connectivity?

It's definitely quite niche, most people are rarely going to be somewhere out of cell coverage, even if they're on a crap network, someone nearby will have signal.sounds like a great thing to have added into your phone tbh, connectivity from almost anywhere in the world would be very useful
Being able to get some form of comms when outside of mobile network coverage; useful in an emergency.might be a silly question, but whats so special about satellite connectivity?
Globalstar is what is being rumoured (they have global coverage i believe) and supposedly Apple have already purchased/leased a number of (new) Globalstar satellites to use. But there is also the rumour that Apple may acquire Globalstar outright, so who knows. It'll probably be on Iridium which has global coverage.
This satellite rumour appeared just before the iPhone 13 launch and I thought it was ridiculous then. It just seems like someone has picked something utterly unbelievable and announced it as a rumour to see how far it'll spread.
How does switching from a standard sim to an esim work? I'm on Three and I buy my phone's outright so just stay on a simonly tariff.
Why?Plus, I’m of the opinion the iPhone will go portless before it goes usb-c.
