Some nice stuff there but not enough to pull me from the 13 pro.

48mp camera is nice, the iPhones biggest camera weakness is it's blurry and grainy zoom but Apple haven't added decent optical zoom here so I'll wait for that. Samsung phones offer 10 times optical zoom, the 14 pro is still stuck with 2 and 3 times

The A16 chip appears to be a rebranded A15 with little more cache.

I'd probably disable the always on display.

Dynamic island looks like a waste of time.

Double brightness of the screen is the sun is very nice but not worth upgrading just for this.

I was going to get the 14 pro, but the hiked price is a bit disappointing to be honest. Compared to the US price it’s a bit steep.
Considering their prices don’t show sales tax and the pound is at its lowest level against the dollar since 1985, it’s very much expected.

14 pro max wish list, in no particular order:

Hardware/Design:
1) USB-C
2) Faster wired and wireless charging (maybe 45w wired and 20w wireless?)
2) No notch/holepunch display
3) 256gb base storage/8gb ram (for prores mainly as it seems to use a lot of space)
4) Touch ID in power button
5) Change the dimensions of the 14 pro max for it to be narrower so its easier to hold in hand - at the moment its far too wide for it to be a comfortable 1 handed phone!
6) 1440p display

Software:
1) 4K/240fps slow-mo (still stuck on 1080p in 2021!!)
2) Home screen on pro max to be less zoomed in so can actually fit more rows on each page

I'm sure there are a couple other small things as well that can be added, but ill update list as the year goes on. If the 14 Pro Max includes all of these I am 100% getting it

Revisiting the wishlist I made last year...

1) Nope
2) Nope
3) I guess pill can count as a holepunch
4) Nope and nope
5) Nope
6) Nope

Software changes:
1) Nope
2) Nope

Jesus christ they really did almost nothing that I wanted lmao...

Haha. Your post does a great job of diffusing Apple's marketing behemoth and their fancy webpage. It's really not that innovative is it.

I dont even think the things I asked for were that big of a stretch? All they do is harp on about the camera for the majority and forget about everything else on the phone.

hopefully next years models at least come with USBC and more base storage as the minimum..

As a 12 Pro Max user on a 2 year cycle, I really wanted to give myself an excuse to upgrade but nothing really excites me.

Despite all the usual malarky we hear year after year about the camera and sensor upgrades, I'm sceptical as I'm still yet to grab a hyped new iPhone after release and get images in ProRaw that can in any way whatsoever compete with my fairly inexpensive Fujifilm X-T20 or the misses' Sony A7III - or any proper dedicated mirrorless/SLR for that matter. The images always look pretty good on the iPhone itself (except Portrait mode, that is terrible and usually makes a dog's meal out of the edges) but as soon as you flip open the Mac it's blindingly obvious they're taken on a smart phone.

Maybe I'm cynical and need to lighten up a bit but to me it just seems like they've executed yet another masterclass in how to market a product that hasn't really pushed things forward. Still, will look forward to the reviews and maybe on this particular model the camera genuinely is a significant leap forward and I will be proven wrong!

Unless you’re printing large images then the ultra wide & wide images taken on the iPhone are very decent. Certainly good enough for social media. It’s impossible to tell a wide shot using a Sony A73 from a wide iPhone image online.
Take the photos using ProRaw and you can make lossless adjustments in LR too.

Of course, the moment you need need fast & accurate pin point AF, or lower light, then the iPhone lags behind .

Price and lack of upgrade to the zoom is a bit of a sticking point personally. Fully appreciate the £ is getting shafted right now but even so - not quite sure the pro is the phone i was hoping it to be to justify the expenditure. Another year with the Pixel 5 it seems :/

*edit* and its too damn heavy too!

Ready to Pre-Order is now live on the Apple Store app. Pro 256GB :)
Interesting. I’ve noticed that I can apply my App Store balance to reduce the cost. This means that someone could buy a load of Apple Gift Cards and use Airtime Rewards and something like Curve to get a discount. You will need to buy the gift cards from the right shops to get the discount so somewhere like Boots or Argos. With a combination of Airtime Rewards, Curve and my underlying Mastercard I think I’ll get 10% off.

I think I’m going to get this outright after all and switch to a SIMO contract paid for by work.
