Went for black too. It’s going to be in a silicone case anyway so probably didn’t actually make that much difference
The lack of SIM tray on the US models is really annoying, I usually stick a local SIM in when traveling to avoid paying $10/day for TravelPass and (for example) I don't think the UK networks support eSIM on PAYG...
I want to upgrade to get 5G access and better battery life but otherwise I'm struggling a bit - Verizon is offering $800 as a trade-in credit for my 11 Pro but it's via 36 months of bill credits so I'd be locked in for 3 years

If you haven’t come across it - I’ve found Airalo decent for travel with work to buy PAYG esims in loads of countries for my personal phone. Same here, I’ve had my 12 pro for a few yrs now and as great as it is the battery life on it isn’t as good as it used to be. But that’s to be expected especially with new OS updates being pushed out every so often.
I was watching the Apple event and it was pretty good.
I really was in 2 minds about whether to upgrade or not. It actually works out to be the same as I’m paying now with the monthly payments on my 12pro give or take a few quid extra a month.
Got my pre order ready for tomo but I’m thinking if I should hang onto my 12pro and wait next yr….but ahhh new tech and phone so there’s that lol

Get a new battery, help the environment
Lol not sure if that will make a difference as currently my battery is at 93% so still in decent shape.
Meh I’ll see how I feel tomo and if I’m still having doubts then I’ll cancel and wait for the iPhone 15 and see what major improvements are made to the hardware rather than software.
But that new pill ie dynamic island sounds really interesting to say the least. If anything I was really hoping that usb c would have been implemented. Really dislike the lightening connector.

93% is quite degraded, a new battery will likely give you a noticeable improvement.

Although wondering whether to trade in for 279, keep as a spare or sell privately.

nilay could quite easily get his mum to use WhatsApp/Telegram/Signal etc etc. if it really was an issue. Even my gran uses WhatsApp and she’s over 80.

Texting cross platform seems like a solved problem already. Apple are no more interested in helping Google make RCS a success as they are in helping make WhatsApp or any other messaging platform a success, other than their own.
