***The Official MSI 5850 Twin FrozeR Thread***

Is anyone else finding the default fan speed is about 50% even when the gc is cool? As the fan profile in the bios says it should only get to 50% when about 70c.

I think most of us has the fanspeed stucked at 55% at default...we just use MSI Afterburner to set a custom fanspeed profile to overide the loud 55% fanspeed.

Odd really.

Well i know the artifacts isnt my windows install, i booted into my windows 2008 install and installed 10.10 at the same happened, used afterburner to put the speed upto 725/1000 from 157/300 and all artifacts gone, booted into win7 installed older drivers with out CCC, MSI running at 725/1000, run a few games, vantage etc, no artifacts or reboots.

Anyone interested in MSI 5850 Twin Frozr II bios with overclocking limits set to 1050/1300 MHz? This is the official bios with just overclocking limits changed. Fan speed is stuck at 55% on default, you'll need to use Afterburner or CCC to set it to your liking.

No powerplay issues, no 2d/3d profiles needed, eliminates any software problems when overclocking.

Remember, flashing is risky and can bork a card.

got my card running stable at 850/1250 might try and puss it a little futher though
Save it to a profile in MSI Afterburner, and try higher overclock and save to a different profile.

Currently I have two profiles one at 835MHz and one at 970MHz...for all the dx9 games, and even BFBC2 in dx11 my 835MHz overclock pretty much handle it at ease...I probably won't need the 970MHZ clock speed unless I want to play Crysis, when every single frame rate counts :p

Hi im currently running 850 core, 1250 mem, v1.230 with a danger den maze 4 gpu water block.

ive saved my default profile which is 725/1000 but at idle core is 400 and mem is 1000?

im using 10.10 , i installed 10.12 but i keep getting an error saying driver not responding, i have tried it since and i still get it so i have put 10.10 back on, hopefully there will be a new driver our soon.

Tried 10.4 & now on 10.12a but my card keeps on locking up which causes the pc just to freeze & need a restart.

Using afterburner with a 2d profile at stock & a 3d profile at stock just to put the fan a bit lower, might try it without afterburner to see if that helps any.

So far not impressed with the card & considering sending it back.

having some troubles currently. i appear to be getting blue screen's (but only when im NOT at my computer so far, which is a little annoying) so i dont really know what the problem is.

also, the fans seem funky. I have a custom fan profile using afterburner, however only 1 of the fans seem to pay attention to it, the other one is either really loud, or sometimes randomly goes super slow for around 30 seconds (and the pc goes nice and quiet), anybody else experiencing this?

Hi guys, just checking:

Would I be able to overclock this card as much as the one in my sig using Saph Trixx to synchronise clocks? Just wondering as I might be getting one of these for crossfire :)

Ive got a MSI 5850 TF Crossfire setup. If I try to overclock by 1mhz using MSI Afterburner my system locks up. Using Cat 10.12 drivers. Don't know if it's the drives, MSI afterburner or a BIOS issue.
Just letting you know. See if anybody else has overclocked these cards in crossfire.

Mate you couldn't have a crack at using Trixx could you? It's the only program I could use to get my 5850 stable (needs 1.3 volts :) )

Cheers for the help, much appreciated :)

You need to register a Sapphire product to be able to download Trixx. So short answer no unless someone can get me the software.

Yes I've has this issue althought i've come to assume it's an hardware issue. It also can't seem to keep up with my TV tuner while using Windows Media Center, and I have to watch the program a min or two back in order for it to syce back up.

I'll try the 10.10 thanks =)
