***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

Had a major trip back to my childhood and rebuilt all mine and my brothers Space Lego models. I couldn't believe how few of the parts were missing, we even had all the original instructions bar 2, not bad seeing that it was last played with 20 years ago.

My 4 year old boy came downstairs this morning to find this lot on the Dining Room table....he was pretty chuffed :)

Just bought my nephew the lego police station yesterday from toys r us...cost me £60 but seeing as his mum is here visiting...he gave her a big list of what he wanted:p.

Luckily i got there in time to get the last box...couldnt find it anywhere since fri...even online there were none available.

Im just waiting for the new Ferrari models to come out...they look good.

Nice. I had a few of those sets :)

Lego was cool 20 years ago. I don't like the pre designed kits of today... Nothing like having a massive box of different bricks and flat pieces... Only guide was your imagination.

Maybe it's just nostalgia.

Not nostalgia mate, it really is very unimaginative these days. :( Back in the day we had blocks which weren't specific to anything, nowadays you can make a car in about 4 blocks.

Does anyone have any lego res-q? I bought loads when I lived in NZ, but I'm not sure if it ever sold here. :(

TBH I don't think this is actually the case. I used to think the same when seeing a lot of the themed lego, but the Lego City range is pretty much just like the old stuff. Sure they have updated a few things, like the mudguards, but we always used to have these. I am happy to get my son any of the City range for this reason.

What was this? Any more details?

Looking at the Technica models this year, dones't seem to be anything too inspiring. Last year there was some awesome kits though.

Edit, actually just seen the Crane truck. That looks pretty decent. not seen it in the shops though - where's the best place to buy it?

AWESOME! : http://shop.lego.com/Product/?p=852534

Toys r us proclaim to have Britains biggest selection of lego in stock. How many Technic models do they have? Four. Wow. Not even the flagship model.

Lego doesn't seem to require the same level of creativity as it used to.

It never required creativity, but it did allow it. Now there are too many custom moulded parts I agree.

Why don't they release a seperate line like "LEGO Classic" where it's just a ton of generic blocks you can use your imagination with.
