**** The Official OnePlus 6 Thread ****

Even if a couple of weirdos have managed to break a headphone jack it's clear by looking at the usb-c plug it's going to be a heck of a lot easier to break.. But again you have to ask yourself how

I honestly can't see how you could break a headphone jack. Throughout all my phones and even my old iPod classic I've never had a headphone jack break

And bluetooth, lol. It sounds grim. No comparison... Besides the point, I have a really good set of wired headphones, I don't want to replace them because somebody decided I should.. Especially when I'm paying that somebody £500+ for a phone.
It happened to my Z3c too. It's a very common problem just google it. Who cares what bluetooth sounds like... it's used for watching movies/youtube/listening to mp3s.. not high definition audio. If you have a really good set of headphones then why would you carry them around to use with your phone  then use them at home. Couldn't think of anything worse than carrying headphones around. Earphones all the way.

I've only had small Pixel size phones or HTC, I like the look of 6 or 6T and would be all over it if they did a small version. Headphone jack is only an issue for me as you can't charge and listen at the same time (unless bluetooth headphones). You can get bit perfect audio out from USB, what matters is the quality of DAC used. I've never used a USB to jack converter before but it's a non-issue for me.

How do you mean? I'm curious...

It's ridiculous. It's why you don't see USB C audio cables (and headphones) as often as lightning. Companies would have so many returns, as people would just assume that because their phone has a USB C port, it'll work. Wrong.

On the iPhone, it's not so bad not having a headphone jack, because all lightning ones work on all iPhones with a lightning connector.

It ****** me off beyond belief.

Well, when I say headphones I mean earphones. Good ones with Comply tips. I only use a pair of headphones at work because it's easier to slip on/off during the day. So, to answer your question I carry my earphones around all day because I commute on the tube... In my life the best time I get to listen to music is on my commute. Not ideal, but Comply tips help massively and I still get a relatively decent experience. At home I listen to my hifi (speakers). I also don't know why anyone carries around headphones ;)

Can't you just leave it plugged into the headset, you're presumably already carrying around a headset?
As above. Yes I am. But I don't like carrying around things I don't need to.

Blimey. Sounds like a total mess. How do you know if you're using the phone's DAC or some crappy one on your usb-c dongle? Ugh...

Yeah that's exactly the problem :(

But then Android has the benefit of natively supporting LDAC as of Android Pie I believe, which looks to improve Bluetooth audio quite a bit (for the headphones that support it)

I'm really happy using USB C for audio, but I need to have a cable that goes direct from headphones to my phone (built in DAC, like the M&D cables) and a decent pair of USB C earphones. Having been given an S8, it's made me realise even more how much I miss it :(
