**** The Official OnePlus 6 Thread ****

Really impressed with the camera tbh, not quite as good as the Pixel or iPhone but much better than the Note 9. Just wish they didn't have the front FP sensor :(

Note 9 cam is showing its age. The gimmick aperture feature this year was all they had. Looks like they are going all out next year with bigger sensor, 48MP and pixel binning.

People are forgetting the whole point of wireless charging. Today we have 15W fast wireless charging and even 10W is fine for topping up when sat at your work/home desk etc. It's convenience over everything else, not having to carry a dash charge cable with you everywhere because dash charge will only work with a compatible cable, and then you also need the dash charge power block everywhere you go as well.

So unless you pay the premium for dash charge compatible power sources and cables, then you will be using slow wired charging... By which measure why not just have wireless charging which is faster than slow wired charging? Makes no sense. It's not like wireless charging coils take up much space either, just look at every JerryRigEverything video where he takes phones apart to see how thin the coil pads are.

It's a BS excuse from OnePlus and the proof is in other devices that have both fast wired and fast wireless charging without sacrificing anything.

It's true that next year Qualcomm will introduce 50W wireless charging, it won't be 50W exactly due to the overheads loss, but it will still be faster than any current fast wired charging solution on any device currently available.

Let's take a look at the reasons OP have given in recent times as to why they don't use wireless charging yet.

* Too slow
* Give room for a bigger battery
* Our customers aren't ready for it yet or don't want it

Likewise the reasons they gave for removing the headphone jack were a bit questionable too.

I wonder what reason they will give when quizzed about the removal of the notification LED on the 6t?

So buy 2 more dash charge adapters £15 a pop from amazon. One at work one at home one to leave in your car/bag. Its just the same as buying a few wireless chargers.

Difference is wireless is universal yes, but its also a lot slower and hotter.

A smaller, much better looking notch.

Remember all the backlash 6 months ago when the OP6 had a (quite large) notch? They've made it as small as possiblr and had to get rid of the notification led to do that. You can't please everyone unfortunately.

The Pixel 3 XL doesn't have one either, in it's huge notch.

There are certain things that, after having a OnePlus phone for 2 years, I couldn't live without:

Gestures - 3 finger swipe for screenshot, etc
Alert slider
Excellent software updates - is the S7 getting Pie? No. Is the OP3? Yes. Both were released in early/mid 2016, 2.5 years ago.
Dash/Fast charge

Google got flack for no LED too, but it's not exactly hard to put a notification LED in the speaker recess/grille as other makers have done before!

Or an even better idea, use coloured dots on the corner of the OLED screen to simulate a notification LED, which can then be customised in display settings so users can choose their own colours, blink rates etc for their fav apps so you know exactly what app is notifying you.

Further info on the fingerprint scanner - 5:55:

With the screen completely off, when you put your finger on the screen it registers this as the 'tap' to wake the screen and then unlocks using the fingerprint scanner. So, yes, you can unlock the phone with the screen completely off - without waking the screen first, or having to wait for the ambient display to light up.

Well, kinda. But I talk to everyone I know IRL (lol haven't used that expression much) and even our IT Producurement guys agree that phones are too big nowadays. I just don't see how every single guy in the world is not hugely annoyed by a 6" phone sticking out of his jeans pocket

Well, I've been annoyed about the size of phones since the OPO (which I've still got). If there was one single thing I'd want different it's the size. It's just cumbersome. No way around it.

Personally I think the OP software is awesome. I'd choose that over Samsung any day. No way would I want Samsung bloat.

You think its awesome you cant even turn off vibrate? Thats not a bloaty feature, its as basic as it gets.

With all due respect can you provide some links or evidence showing this? Do you mean you can't out the phone in true silent mode, like when you're sleeping? That sounds very odd...

Every 6T review I've watched has been really positive. Really looking forward to getting my hands on one. Just 1 week to go!

Dash/Fast charge

Well no, OPPO did.

Currently sitting with a Pixel 2 XL. Disappointed with the 3/3XL and left underwhelmed and somewhat frustrated with the Note 9. I think the 6T could be my next purchase. Especially since I can order with my Amazon Prime.

I went with the 6T over the 3XL and the whole process was a lot less fun than I was expecting, I'm not a fan of the direction they're taking mobile design at the moment.

Still, I really did try to talk myself into a Pixel, the software seems a real advantage (camera, screening etc) and I've always liked wireless charging since my Nexus 5 but a smaller battery, only 4gb (which I would have thought was plenty but there's lots of reviews complaining about apps closing in the background) and that awful screen design (the notch and the chin, if they expect Apple prices then they should really have design quality to match it) put me off especially as when I look at the 6t screen design it looks a lot nicer to me.

I could probably overlook all that stuff if not for the price gap being so large, the 3xl is £900 once you add in a case so that's £400 more and this time next year it'll have dropped by that much, not that I plan to change phone again anytime soon but the thought of it losing so much money in just a year bugs me.
