Nope.
Price is a joke, who on earth is this aimed at? I bought a PS4 Pro at launch but not touching this at £700. I have a feeling Sony is testing the waters for higher next gen (PS6) console pricing, this will go down like a lead balloon.
I mean - there are plenty of pages in this very thread with people saying it is aimed at them potentially.
It is aimed at the 15 - 20% of people who demand the very best from their gaming setup. This device has not been released to be a replacement for the PS5. All 56m PS5's will continue working. All the future bought PS5's will continue working and will get every single game released this generation.
In the same way most Samsung user's don't buy a Galaxy Ultra. Most Google users don't buy a Pixel Pro. Most Apple users don't buy an iPhone MAX.
If you cannot afford it or feel the price-tag is too high then.....it simply wasn't aimed at you.
Don't buy it. The world will continue.
But I can guarantee you plenty will. When it goes on pre-sale on the 23rd, all the units will be snapped up. Those people who buy will be happy with the enhancements it gives them.
For me - if I was buying I'd consider this the PS5.5 and wouldn't look to buy a PS6 at release.
If the PS5 release has shown us something, it has been under-utilised for the main and games have continued to be released for the PS4. So a PS5 Pro now would allow you to play the rest of this generations games with the very best possible fidelity/frame setup and would almost certainly play the first 2-3 years of PS6 releases far closer to how the PS6 can than the base PS5 will.
However, for me it's a principle thing and the price-tag is too high. If it had been £700 with the optical drive I'd have seriously considered.
But it doesn't stop me from seeing that plenty of people are going to buy. No it won't be the end of Sony, no it won't bomb.
