You should be able to pick it up as you go along.

Its designed for the Nexus S (stock Android software) but its more or less the same software just with a skin over some of it

I've got mine now from O2 on Contract, it's got bootup branding but nothing on the hardware and I haven't been able to test whether it's unlocked yet.
As for the phone itself - wow. I haven't been using it long but I can't say more than has already been said about the screen and general performance, it's just fantastic. My only complaint is TouchWiz; it isn't pretty enough for the rest of the phone but I'll stick with it for a little while, otherwise it's back to LauncherPro!

Sorry for being dim, but which part of the OS actually is touchwiz? I'm finding it difficult to define due to my previous lack of experience with Android

So which would you go for out of Tmobile Vs orange. 3 who im currently with i dont get signal at work anymore (used an orange mast before) and vodafone / o2 have horrible 3g coverage around my area.

interesting... after hearing a load of hype and good reviews for this phone shall i ditch the HTC Desire HD that has just been delivered today on a new contract!? Seems that there are better deals out there to be had.

Have bought launcherpro, it's only £2 so if i don't like it i can just head back to touchwiz. Not sure which i prefer yet...
LauncherPro is really very good. Have a look at the options for it, they are endless! All sorts of fancy stuff in there

Hi I'm a newbie and been following this thread and found it very interesting. I decided in the end to go for the O2 on payg. I've got an old simplicity monthly I pay £20.42 with 600mins unlimited text and unlimited data and although I don't use much, I may end up doing so with this phone. Thanks for the info on giff gaff, had never heard of that before may use that at some point. I ordered my S2 yesterday and as I didn't receive an email I contacted them using online chat today and was told they didn't have any stock of the phone and couldn't tell me when they were getting it.
Just checked my online status though after reading Pod's post and mine is now complete too. No email yet though so I'll try not to get too excited.

No way to say I'm afraid, you'll have an email from them when it's dispatched with the date that it'll be delivered as well as a tracking number.
Incidentally, has anyone's tracking number from buymobilephones.net actually started tracking anything with City Link yet? Still not on the system for me.
LauncherPro is awesome, and to expand on which bits are 'Touchwiz' (or at least non-stock android/samsung) you've got:
Launcher -- Replaced by LauncherPro personally
Contacts/Phone bits -- quite like these so see no reason to change
Calendar -- bit crappy with not 'seeing' all my calendars, but I use the launcherpro widget to view it and launch the 'add event' bit which works fine
Lock screen as well, more samsung than touchwiz I guess -- this I'm not a massive fan of, need to change it at some point but not looked for alternatives yet

Oh, yeah, Screens, iirc the Atrix is using a Pentile screen to get the higher res, what about the other new phones like Sensation etc, they've got a bigger screen than the Atrix but are they Pentile or 'proper' screens?
Just ordered a couple of random sleeve style cases from amazon, will let you know what they're like when I get them, my main worry is that they're designed for thicker phones and don't provide a decent fit, they specified the phone but we'll see...

I quite like the look of the Samsung one but I'm going to replace it. I'd recommend WidgetLocker, you can set up lots of different sliders so you can unlock straight into your messages, camera etc, very handy!
