****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

What is Multiple CSC?

CSC = Customer Specification Configuration ( not country specific code)

Just means all the apn for all the various network product codes and their regions. Multi means pick the one for your area, UK is xeu.
I take it they'd also wipe the phone and therefore get rid of the O2 Startup/Shutdown screens??
Yes, but as I said before be aware that without a copy of the stock firmware you can't go back to the branded state if you need to for the warranty etc.

well face detection but isnt it the same thing?

Face detection - the camera is able to detect faces and autofocuses according to them

Face recognition - when the phone is locked you can unlock it by using the camera to recognise your own face. It replaces a password/pattern unlock.

Two separate things, the latter of which is thought to not be present in the current software despite Samsung saying it would have it (not that i'm fussed). Do you have both? If you do that'll be very interesting.

O2 Head Office are claiming that they have had no stock at all... so are basically saying that customers cannot have had it dispatched.

O2 are naffing me off at bit, they're still sending out contract phones, even those just ordered yesterday, but PAYG have to wait and from a post I just saw on XDA could be towards the end of the week as there's a backlog. :(

Mine arrived just after 7pm (just un-boxing now after diner) which surprised me a little.

ok when you click the link in the o2 site that tracks your order, make sure you put your consignment number in the ident code box and not the consignment box(which i was doing)...mine is out for delivery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would help if O2/DHL didn't refer to the code as the 'consignment' number. I checked a few times between Monday and minutes before the delivery driver turned up at the door :D

Hmm but how do i connect to UMTS? You are right GPRS is so slow.
First make sure all the APN settings are correct, it should default to the fastest network unless you've select a slower one. Then it's down to being near enough to a transmitter. I'm on top of a UMTS/HSDPA (3G/H) transmitter and it still comes and goes.

You also get the O2 Arena as a stock wallpaper. I'd like to remove that, and will just as soon as I figure out how to change wallpapers, auto-running applications (I do not need Finance, FFS), copy files from PC to device, add new ringtones...

PS: Any help on this will be appreciated - this is my first smartphone.

Wallpapers:
press and hold on a home screen, wallpaper is one of the menu options, rest is fairly obvious,

auto-running applications:
not noticed much of this, although not looked as the phone is hardly running slow, only finance thing I can think of is the google finance widget that's on one of the homescreens as stock, if that's still there it might just be removing that (press and hold on widget, move to trash can at the bottom, release screen and the widget will go)

to transfer files:
Either use Kies Air (open app, gives an ip/port, open that in a web browser I believe you can use that to transfer files as well),
or Kies itself (download from samsung website, plug phone into pc and it'll connect)
or USB Mass Storage (go to settings, wireless and networks, usb utilities, press the connect storage to pc button and then plug in usb cable, press mount mass storage or whatever the option is and you'll be able to view the files on the pc)

ringtones:
these are just media files, see above...

The connection icons at the top are meant to be green if you are connected to Google aren't they? Cant think why mine are still grey internet is working fine

On touchwiz they don't go green afaik

You beautiful man.

Now is GPRS correct for internet?

GPRS = 2G = slow, you want 3G or HSDPA for decent speed internet conection, basically you're signal isn't that great right now...

The one thing I'm really keen to find out is if my 'iPhone 4' specific headphones (basically inline controls + mic) would work on this phone. Anyone have the ability to test this?
