Wow, bit of a thread to read on this phone then?!

I've got one of these coming as my upgrade, although I'm in two minds at the moment as to keep it or sell it as my current Desire is fine. it's been ages since I had a new gadget though... :D

Hi i went from a Desire to this...and aint missed my Deisre since.:)
You may miss the HTC style a little bit but once you get up and running you wont miss it at all. I for one like the way THIS phone handles things as opposed to the Desire, this phone wins hands down.

how do you increase the volume on these devices? someone said about a config file?

Try this Jimlad:

volume boost.
Enter this number *#*#197328640#*#*
This will open the service mode menu.
Select option [5] AUDIO
Select option [1] (VOICE CALL)
Select option [2] HEADSET
Select option [1] Volume
Select option [1] SRC Speech RX Volume
Select option [5] 5_lvl : 87
Press the menu button (left side)
Choose Key Input
Enter a value between 0 and 100, with 100 the loudest setting.
Press ok
Then press the menu button and select back this will save (don't use the right side back key you normally use to navigate the phone or you will quit out of the settings).
Keep selecting the menu and back until you exit the service mode menu.
You will also note you can change volume settings for other things like Bluetooth, handsets, video call etc.

I would never buy something like that it would have to be a universal sound device that way it can be ported from device to device. Or you could be stuck with a device that wont fit your next upgrade:eek:

Anyone had issues with the perfurated samsung case?

My dad and i both have the same case, and we both have the same problem, that when talking to people on the phone, the receiver will always hear an echo of themselves, and once the case is removed, the issue is no longer there?

Anyone else experienced this? Apologies if its already been posted :)

I have the same case but have not experienced the phenomenon.

My girlfriend has got hold of a HTC Sensation I set it all up for her as she is coming over to Android from an iPhone 4.
After messing with the phone for a while it dawned on me that I have grown to appreciate the way the SGSII does things over the HTC Sensation.
Dont get me wrong i came over from a HTC Desire but the Sensation and HTC Sense don't do it for me the way SGSII does things. I like the way the SGSII allows me to do the things I wish to do.

Just little things really, low in-call volume, low headphone volume, slow GPS lock, it feels a bit cheap and its a bit too big well for me anyway.

I am not saying its a bad phone, just not the right one for me.

:)
Shame to hear that andyd.

Is there a way to increase the in call volume (from the phone speaker, not the loud speaker) on a non rooted phone? If not is this likely to be fixed in future firmwares?

I read something about a service mode but that needed doing each time the phone was restarted.

Other people can hear me fine but I can't her other people clearly if there is a lot of outside noise or the phone speaker is not exactly on my ear. Other people have reported this issue iirc so it is not a fault with my handset etc.
