****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Well they have both been set to that all day and I'm already down to 33%. Wud only having gprs data connection and using the net a lot use more power cus the connection is slow? Iv got a load of things running in my services with no.idea what they are. Google maps is running but won't force stop.

it would use more power in the sense the screen would be on for longer waiting for pages to load. When you look at the battery usage graph what is using the power?

Under setting there is a menu "Power Saving Mode".
I don't have power saving enabled. Maybe its the battery being hot. I will turn it off for a while and see if the message goes away and I can turn the brightness up to max.
Khann! - In the photo outside, did you have brightness set to Max?

That photo was taken with autobrightness actually but max is a bit brighter although it's hard to tell outside as anything above halfway looks like the pic!

Well decided to take the plunge and buy one, despite originally saying I would wait to check out and compare it to the Sensation first I just can't wait any longer :)

Ordered from Phones4u on an Orange Dolphin contract (free phone on 300mins, £25pm + cashback) and am just wondering if it is likely to be branded or not - anyone else get theirs from Phones4u?

It won't be branded, it may be locked but nobody has had a locked one from them yet.

I'm getting far better results by doing two things - making sure wi-fi sharing is force stopped (it will start again if you toggle wireless back on) and turning off automatic brightness (not sure how much difference this makes yet)

My battery is sitting at 73% today which is 15-20% better than normal with the same usage (40 mins HD video and a bit of texting)

How do you force stop wifi sharing?

Mine was fully charged this morning at 8.30 & by 3pm was down to 53%. Listened to a few mp3s, bit of playing with phone settings & nothing else. Phone was quite hot when I took it out of my outer coat pocket even though no apps etc were running.

Wifi sharing & social hub are running at 40% & 20% respectively

To avoid overheating, maximum brightness has been reduced

Message has now gone after I switched it off for 10 mins. Now I can put brightness up to the max. I will keep an eye on that message in future.
Max brightness looks better by the window, but will try outside a bit later.

Registering your SGS II for DivX ~ A Step-by-Step Guide

I don't know if anyone yet has noticed this but in order to utilize DivX fully on the SGS II you must first register the handset.
Unfortunately it is not as simple as tapping on the screen and then playing DivX media. Instead you have to go through a complex routine....

As such here is a step-by-step guide in how to do this as painlessly as possible.

To register DivX you need to do the following:-
1. On the SGSII go to Settings/About Phone/Legal Information/License Settings/DivX VOD/Register
Tap on Register and it will give you a registration code which you need to make a note of.
2. Once done you then have to go to your PC and download the registration file by clicking on where it says 'Free Download' from DivX ~ http://vod.divx.com
3. This will then download a file titled DivXInstaller.exe to your PC.
4. Install this file on your PC then run the DivX Plus Player and click on the players menu 'VOD/Register a DivX Certified Device' and fill in the card that loads using the code you wrote down earlier.
5. A file will then be downloaded to the PC which you then have to copy across to the SGSII.
6. Once copied simply play the file and the SGSII is then registered.
7. Finally, go back into the settings menu on your phone and you will now notice where it used to say register it is now 'greyed out' and 'Deregister' is available to click on should you wish to de-register.

Job done....

Please report back on ur findings.as.I need mine to last longer than it currently does. If I get up at 7.30am its dead by 9pm unless I charge it. Others have said the battery is great compared to there old phones but compared to my BBC bold 9700 its no where near.

Well I've done it and it was relatively easy rooting the phone. I flashed it which I don't think I really needed to do anyway then the root. Frozen wifi sharing and wifi manager along with email (was duplicating my Gmail alerts through social hub) and social hub.

Seems to have solved the problem completely and now only my Gmail app notifies me of emails.

Only two problems I have is that Google maps, once opened, still runs in running services. I've logged out of latitute and that hasn't solved that problem.

The only other issue is that my titanium backup gets halfway and then the phone switches off and the backup won't complete. Works fine if I only backup apps, but not with system data. Is it important to backup system data?

Well just got a reply from mobiles.co.uk saying that their shipment came but it had half the amount they were expecting and they don't know when they're getting another load in.....now what ;-(

Yeah I ordered yesterday at 3pm and also got an email this morning saying that there is no stock... I hate it when companies list items as being in stock when there is in fact none.

Has your order status gone past processing yet? Trying to get hold of them on the phone to get an estimated delivery as I think some other places may have stock.
