Well I have just ordered the Martin Fields one from Mobilefun but they don't have stock yet so I hope they get them soon, but they are supposed to be very good.

So when I go to get my case from phones4u i'm gonna pick up a cheepo one to tied me over.

i was expecting about a 3rd thinner from people's comments. it's perhaps thin for the power it's go inside it, but it's not what i'd call a thin phone.

Well then the fault is with how you've interpreted things, rather than the phone not being thin. For what it is and what it does, it's ridiculously thin and still manages to feel very solid, it's a hell of an accomplishment.

What next? "It's not that fast, I was expecting it to be at least a third faster"?

I have to admit I was quite disappointed to find the phone wasn't able to wash the dishes and cook me dinner. In this day and age, that simply isn't good enough.

It did manage to put the washing out though, so all is not lost.

Chainfire3D looks quite useful, might allow us to get around the stupid Tegra-only crap that nvidia has paid devs for, from reading on xda it seems almost exclusively down to using a tegra-specific texture compression and not supporting the only OpenGL standard one which shouldn't be too hard to get around...
Chainfire3D OpenGL driver working well.

People seem to be avoiding the MF protectors over at XDA. Current fav are the SGPs which take less than a week to arrive, 2 in a pack for $10

I have some Brandos on order, been waiting for over 2 weeks now :( paid $12 each for a ultra clear and anti-glare.

Dunno about UI, I wasn't a fan but as I said, my handcent is considerably different looking to the stock Handcent so my UI > Go :p

Any chance you can share your Handcent theme mate? I had similar on my Desire but can't seem to recreate it on my Galaxy and it beats the stock app hands down!

Second day with my SGS2 after upgrading from my Desire and loving it so far!

Well... had my GS2 for a few days now and having been a Desire owner for over a year I've come to the following conclusions:
GS2 is a better phone in pretty much every way - the screen is gorgeous, the responsiveness of the screen and general speedyness at which things happen is a big step up. The camera is truely a huge step up from the Desire - really really impressed with that.
However its not all roses...
The GS2 has BIG issues with keeping a 3G signal whilst moving and noticeably worse Wi-Fi range.
For example - I used to be able to keep wi-fi connection whilst in my back garden no problem with my Desire but now its completely non existant on my GS2.
Hell even whilst sat on the crapper it is flakey which is less than 5 m away from the router...was never a prob with my desire.
Similarly on one of my regular train journeys I'd maintain a data connection for around 75% of the time on my desire whereas on the GS2 its down to about 15%....
Not sure if its an issue with default firmware or whatever but it is a noticeable step down in terms of useability.
That aside... its a truely amazing phone.

Out of curiosity what software version are you on? Until last night I was running KE1 and whilst at my desk at work I was only getting a dot of wifi (eg no bars) and the bandwidth was iffy at best, but updated to KE7 last night and now getting 2 bars and speedtest reports good pings/bandwidth so think they may have done something.

Saying that, it is just the status after 30 minutes and being the only person in the office :p

I've contacted martin fields, they don't even have these phones in singapore yet so they've not made them yet they said.

Awesome phone. I'm very impressed with the size, screen, speed and, to some extent I even like TouchWiz. Music and video is a real joy. I also like the contacts page. Odd, but true :D

Less impressive so far is the battery life, but this is day one, so I'll reserve judgement until I've had the phone a little longer. I've been off the charger since half 6; 20 minutes Wordfeud, 30 minutes music, a little messing about with settings and I'm down to 85% battery. After the weekend I'll be able to give a more informed opinion - maybe I'll install JuiceDefender - that worked a treat on my last phone. I'm also a little miffed that Swype doesn't work, but I understand Samsung have fixed that with an update. The lockscreen is truly awful. How anyone thought that swiping away the entire screen looks good, is beyond me :D

I haven't updated any software yet, so I've got loads of Vodafone rubbish on there at the moment (they have not released any updated firmware at all). I did have a look at the XDA thread..... is it just me, or is that thread a little confusing as to what file to download? Probably just me, I was spoiled by the San Francisco guide :D

Anyway, lots to play with and I'm happy so far. A few little possible niggles to resolve for now, but we'll.
