****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

^^ Good thread you have on XDA btw ;)

This is a power saving feature from Samsung apparently. It loads up the widgets on your screen before or something. If you have it connected to mains, it wont do it.

Ta.

Next question: Button combination to take a screenshot is..... ?

Woot! Decided to give O2 a try, as I never had a problem with them in the past and my SGS2 will be with me on Tuesday :). I have their broadband and home phone and I am very happy with that so it, keeps it all together for now.

Power + Home

Cheers. Using that info:

Do I have the latest version and are these the details of a "retail" GS2?

how do you tell its rooted from that?

anyway, im really quite happy with it :) The looks/asthetics have defo grown on me. I feel i could live with it, still screaming iphone at me though >.> Once you start using it you get lost in the screen size though which is a good thing.
Notifications and general sound is quite loud, which is good. Means i wont miss anything and hopefully wont miss the trackball. however i did try to scroll back when i made a text mistake and realised i couldn't, felt helpless for a few seconds :P

Camera is insane, took a quick snap of my mates face and you can see skin pores etc, quality is nice.

Scared to hell of taking the back cover off, got a free galaxy case from phones4u but im unsure if ill use it much.

That tells us is you've rooted it with a modded kernel and also have the KE7 base (latest).

Hmmm. I bought it off ebay. The guy who sold it to me got it as a T-Mob upgrade and didn't even know if it was locked or not. His suggestion to unlock it was to call the network and pay them £10, so not that clued up imo. Box was open but the rest all looked untouched, even the plastic was on front and back.

Have I been swindled? I put my Orange SIM in and it worked, so I just assumed he had managed to get a retail one from his upgrade, which looked like it was bought from Chitter-Chatter (t-mobile 3rd party shop?).

No, it's normal :) I was just playing with the words, should have had a /s

Some phones come unlocked and locked, even if it was branded. The guy got lucky and his was unlocked. Doesn't really matter anyway since there's a way of unlocking without paying.

You can't, I think he's joking as that reads exactly the same as my 'About Phone' and I haven't rooted.

Phew :) Sadly this shows how little I know about android, and this phone in general, which will ultimately lead to many more questions in this thread!

It might be as Tmobile and Orange are the same they work, mate of mine got a locked Desire HD on T-Mobile and wanted it for orange he payed for a unlock code only to find his orange sim worked in it.

I'm guessing Power Saving is enabled under Settings? I have turned this off as I rather manage it myself :)
Didn't you see I said power saving was disabled? :)

The battery is low again and the brightness has reduced and the "Brightness" option is greyed out. The "Auto adjust screen power" and "Use power saving mode" options are both disabled.

My guess is another of Samsung's forced power saving restrictions.

...What's the best resolution for homescreen wallpapers, using LauncherPro, to avoid the 'zoom' in effect?

The lock screen stays put and looks fine. Touch Wiz also seems fine in its homescreen, just LauncherPro seems to zoom in slightly and the backdrop looks naff then.
